Flags of Apolytonia
Since nobody else has been making any flags, I thought I'd make some more. And to give the flags some more attention I made my own thread (I hope I'm not breaking any rules here ).
As far as I'm concerned you could just blast away and post your fantastic flag creations right here... The official democratic "crew" will then probably eventually roll the most wanted flags into a poll or something etc.
An important sidenote, I picked up the term Apolytonia from some suggestions made earlier, but as far as I know the name of the civ hasn't been decided yet.
Here come the flags:

I hope all of this doesn't look a little too much like spam (now where's that spam smiley when you need it) ...

No. 5 looks like some Pink Floyd album. And the cover of my physics book. So it passes.

Actually, first I thought the prism thing would fit an"A" nicely... And immediately after I thought of the dark side of the moon cover (and I basically don´t even know Pink Floyd). I also made a flag using the album cover, but I thought that was a little too obvious.
Personally I think the A is a little too overpowering in the 5th flag... Perhaps it could become a smaller symbol inside another flag.

As a matter a fact, I'm not that into Pink Floyd either. Just a civic duty to know something about those things.
Btw, the Off-Topic moderator MLeonard has the album cover as his avatar.

Yes, it could do some refining.

And "Apolytonia" sounds just awkward- how about Apollonia?
Or did I come in too late?

Yep, those flags were rather quickly done anyway...
I'm still waiting for others to make some flag designs, by the way. Or am I the only flag-enthusiast around here?!

I don't think so. The names was a name that popped up several times in the Democracy ideas thread... I assume there should be some kind of vote or at least some more suggestions before the name is settled.

Excellent work Mercator!
IMHO No3 definitely has the most class. Nice bit of yin yang going on as well.
And, on a personal note, I am shocked that anyone can not be into Pink Floyd. One despairs for the youth of today!

I like PF's music, but I'm not "into" it, so to speak.
Now, since I think it will be in everyone's best interest for the flag contest to have at least another flag "artist" (More like schmartist in this case), I present you Flag No 1 by Kass:

And since I got hidiously bored this morning, No 2. But I personally think Mercator's flags, any of them, are better - consider this just an action to prevent anyone from whining about the flag contest being biased with only one participant etc.

Finally! Someone else making flags!
It's really not that hard, just fiddle around with some colours and look for some nice images on the Internet for the fancy details you have in mind.
Well, here's another one
