Simulation
I read in the SMAX manual and Velocyrix's guide that it is possible to have the game play itself, like a simulation.
How do you do this?, the Scenario editor is not very user friendly and i haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
The game manual said that they turned the game over to another faction but i dont really understand how to do it.
And yes i do have SMAX.

offhand, when you use Shift+F3 to switch the controlled faction while in Scenario mode, you are asked to choose between two options, one of which should read "watch the computer play"...

Nope it doesn't work, i get asked to choose a faction or choose to play all factions at the same time.
There is no option to make the computer play.

You have to choose a faction to play, then you will get asked if you want to watch the computer play.

But if I choose to watch it still doesn't work for me, the computer just doesn't do anything; besides I loose the view on the entire map and see only what my chosen faction sees AFAIR; so please tell me if you get it working

After you have chosen to watch the AI, you may want to set it to not stop at the end of each turn. You do this by placing a heavy weight on the enter key. (Technical advice from the SMAC manual )

Note: after you have chosen to watch the AI doesn't actually start playing until after you do a move, the easiest thing to do is just end the turn)

Using a bowl of pudding, this is even a "software" solution.

Now it works!

I just need to find a rock of a suitable size to be placed on the enter key.

How long does it usually take until the AI has finished one game on a medium sized map? Can I watch it to the end or will I fall asleep before ?
