If I were to act like I have at times on Earth and blindly follow the pretty woman, I'd probably wake up to find myself in Gaia's High Garden wearing someone else's clothes, with the mother of all headaches and no recollection of how I got there. Fortunately during a space crisis there's no time to think about getting lucky, which is why I'd follow Morgan and get rich, and laugh at all the Gaian suckers crawling in the dirt and falling over each other to touch the hem of Deirdre's robe.

I don't remember very well, but didn't the SMAX story introducing the new factions say that the Cyborgs arose from some old Unity computer activated by some Hive drones???
Lacking the Cyborgs, I'd choose the University of Planet, a faction devoted to progress; but unlike the Morganites, not one that leads to a corporate dictatorship.

Aki Zeta was subjected to an experiment concerning Pre-Sentient Algorithm, merging with the Unity computer which was later salvaged by Hive drones. The rebooting of the Unity computer woke up the algorithm in Aki's Brain and she calls herself Aki afterwards. Later on in the story she co-operates attacks with Zak, against the Drones and the Cult. Then the aliens come...
Or something like that...

Philosophically I tend toward rugged individualism, which means towards the Spartans for this poll. Playing the game I would prefer to play many of the other factions, though the Spartans are not that bad, pretty flexible actually.
Perhaps age is beginning to sap my idealogical strength though. My girlfriend and I just hired a cleaning lady to help us with the house for a couple of hours once a week. Where will this end? Rugged individualism indeed.

Without a doubt I'd chose the Gaians (naked frolicking not withstanding). I'm not surprised that the UoP is first, but the results for Morgan surprised me a little. It looks like Vel has made his mark!!

Morgan Industries!
Nanominiaturization
Objects once measured in meters have become so small that they cannot
be seen by the naked eye, with revolutionary applications across
the board. Gentlemen, forget what your courtesans have told you:
size does matter!

I would love to join the UoP, except I haven't got my mathematics degree yet so I'd probably have to scrub the toilets or something. Or bathe the old people like Zakharov - yuk.
On the other hand, I could quite fancy being a Morganic courtesan. (You know I really mean one of Morgan's courtesans!)

That would be Morgan. Peacekeepers are little too hippy, Gaians little too green, other factions are fascists of some sort . Free Market is full of opportunities...Maybe I could sell my few stocks of earth based corporations to some biased optimists who believe earth actually made it

If I was on the Unity with what I know now, I'd choose going with Yang.
I'm more of a collectivist. Not only that but I tend to get megalomaniacal and I'd make sure I'd help Yang obtain as much power as possible (and get my fair share too!)

I'm all for Morgan. I've got good ideas and all, but nothing so brilliant that the UoP would consider me worth a darn. But Morgan... ahhhh, now there's something. A whole new planet begging for ideas, and a group of like-minded entrepreneurs ready to build a new paradise. Do what you want, guys, but if I don't get running water, air conditioning, and television/net-access/games, I don't wanna play.

PK for me - the Gaians would be second choice. The rest of the factions are fascistic - be power based on economics, science, religion, or otherwise...
I'd run off with the Drones in a heartbeat, tho - they're the most egalitarian of 'em all, methinks. Capitalism BAAAAAD - long live the people's revolution! *grin*
It's funny - alot of the folks goin' for Morgan or Yang are envisioning themselves as higher-ups... when you could just as easily end up a low-level wage- or labor-slave (and there would be, as ever, many more proles than otherwise).

What? No! Just fair and square competition over limited resources
I think it's pretty interesting to think that someone would go off with Yang, but then again, there's more opinions than one. With Morgan I know I'd earn above the average salary...they aren't randomly alloted you know...unlike in socialism

What might the unfettered capitalism of Morgan be like? Think 19th Century Britain, or late 19th/early 20th Century America. In these systems it’s great to be King (as Mel Brooks would say), but it would really suck to be a prole. I view the Gaians and PKs as being much more egalitarian. As for the Drones, I don’t quite see how that society would function since there would have to be some elite to make decisions. Or, it could be an elaborate ruse to lull the masses into complacency while Domai and his cronies get obscenely rich (but put on poor mouth airs so they can be 'one' with the unwashed masses).

Don't you know that 30-80-40 are the ideal proportions of a man? 30 million (Euro, Pound, Dollar ...) at the bank, 80 years old and 40 degree fever. Morgan is ideal (except for his Longevity Treatment).

Ummm... Hate to disagree but I think the capitalistic elitism you speak to may or may not be a reality (in a SCIFI setting no less). If Morgan was played with no SE allocation to psych (read ammenities to the blue collar class) then maybe this would be how Morgan's faction would look.
But in actuality, according to Morgan's inherent factional traits I think we may be able to infer a different picture. Morgan's support hit is supposedly due to Morgan citizen's requiring more ammenities i.e. expensive tastes (assumes all population). Likewise Morgan's base population limit assumes everyone gets more than enough elbow room to live Very comfortably.
Now sure there is going to be a distribution of wealth and power, I just assume Morgan's faction is gonna have more of it to share. (Shades of Reganomics Trickle Down Theory).
OTOH hopefully Morgan's faction doesn't prescribe to the current U.S. business short term philosophy of cost cutting at the expense of long term growth (resulting in bumping up stock market prices at the cost of causing unemployment maybe this is a Market vs. Planned arguement), but I assume with the support hit this is not the case.
Anyhoo,
Jus' my spin. I'll sign up to be well off with Morgan.
Og
