Reversed Apolyton cliché
s
"After all, Civ 3 is merely a wargame."
"This is a simulation, not a game!"
"I want fascism in Civ 3 because I think it is cool."
"Yes, I am a fascist."
"If you want irrealism, play two turns within a minute."
"You guys at Firaxis shouldn't bother to read this."
Contributions, please!

I don't know what you're talking about but the translation of your quote is:
Fuhrleute, die vor einem Schokoladenladen Laden laden, laden Mädchen ein zum Tanz.
Where do you found that?

Things you never see
"I'm happy to wait for the patch."
"I was going to call it a bug, but then I actually thought for a minute."
"It's a bit dim of me to claim the right to free speech when somebody else is paying to let me have my say, isn't it."
"I went into the editor and jacked up corruption 50%."
"I get all of Ironikinit's jokes and find them amusing."
"Boy, I sure miss Libertarian."
"The AI lost a tank when attacking my spearman! FIX IT RIGHT NOW!"
"I win most of the time, yet I'm only of average intelligence. Obviously, the game favors the human player."

Oh I get it.
Like yin26 doesn't at all care what a bunch of complete strangers on the other side of the planet think about him.
Or jimmytrick rarely does massive amounts of drugs before posting one of his psychotic Civilization III poems.
Maybe even I'm really bummed out that a one week ban got rid of libertarian forever.
I think it would be an awful idea to just try test banning charles and yin26 and the rest of the desperate PR-lapping hungry just to see if it takes for them!

"Needs more pollution."
"I don't think I could ever get tired of moving hundreds of individual units around. Wish there were more."
"It's nice to have free time between turns, so I can do things like count solar eclipses."
"No ship has ever been sunk by an aircraft and it would be folly to think otherwise."
"I find the AI to be eerily human-like in its cunning and flexibilty."
"Good thing I don't work for Firaxis. Any real influence on my part on the design of CivIII it would make it inevitably worse."
************************************************** *
(slightly off-topic list of CivIII in-game anti-clichés)
"Sir, we have far too many cities."
"We must lower our research budget, so that we may squander our slight lead in tech!"
"The Romans have completed the Hanging Gardens three turns before we would have. Shall I submit my resignation for wasting so many shields?"
"We, the people, are exceedingly happy that our armies continue to successfully defend our cherished democracy in our century-long war against those hated communist aggressors."
"Yes, trading one of your luxuries for one of mine seems an unquestionably fair bargain. I was about to suggest the same thing myself."

My post is aimed at steering this away from the ad hominem stuff (except to say that Libertarian was one of the greatest posters ever to grace these pages, and I miss him), and even away from stepping into the mindset of Firaxian readers.

You've made some enemies on this forum but I don't think any would go so far as to put a hit out on you even if they could afford it
Being lured away because playing other games is a better use of your time than posting here I can quite understand. Many other games and forums are getting more of my time these days too. There is little if anything more to say before patch 2 actually appears and can be assessed.

"Sir, we have enough luxuries. Dont bother aquiring any more luxuries, everyone is happy enough."
But it is realistic for armies to take centuries to move a few kilometers!!
Dont worry, you can trust the English. They never backstab anybody.
Sid put more effort into Civ 3 than SimGolf

Thanks, Skanky. In the spirit of the thread, I'll offer a couple or three:
"What a great interface!"
"Moving these workers is fun!"
"Just one more turn."

"Why does Firaxis keep asking for our ideas on how to improve the game?! I'm tired of their surveys & polls too."
"Everything in the manual is very helpful, except for those tables at the end."
"Of all the strategies listed in the strategy guide, which do you think is the best?"

"I'm so glad I had the chance to pay to be a Civ3 beta tester."

"I did try to offer the "Furious" AI some mere Ivory to let me finish my spaceship in peace... hehe... of course it didn't work."
"You know it's not the game that's bad... it's me... I suck. Rather than post a 12 paragraph whine, I would like to ask for some suggestions."
