Anyone interested in CivII creation should go to the Scenario League. It is much more than a Scenario League, but the name works. It has handled the CivII Creation forum's traffic for some time now. Creation can and probably should be dropped.

The only thing is, newbees usually have trouble finding it. And not everyone knows about it yet. So in that case they'd go to the General/Help/Creation forum and are then referred to the Scenario League...
Maybe it would be best to merge the "HS - Scenario League" and "Civ2 - Creation" into "Civ2 - Scenario League" or "Civ2 - Scenario Creation". That way the name will remain (in case SL actually rises from the dead and "needs" its own forum) and it will serve the purpose of helping the designers in need.

I think we want to be careful about advocating forums being "dropped". Remember what happened last time when Markos wanted to get rid of Sleague.

I thought St. Leo would bring new life to the SLeague? However, I could probably live with your solution, but I would prefer merging the civ2 creation forum with civ2 general and continuing the SLeage forum in its current way...
Perhaps you could merge the SLeague and the Art of War forum...

This is a good idea as well. The AoW forum is even more dead than the Civ2 Creation one. I think the key here is to maintain the SLeague at the head of all this, there is plenty of action there and every thread is on topic and useful. I would not put SLeague under civ2 because there are guys that make ToT scenarios and post them their as well. Also it is the place to be for Scenario PBEMs to be played as well.
ravagon, what happened when Markos last wanted to remove SLeague? I dont recall any grand fuss, but there must have been. Fill me in please?

Combine the Civ2 - Creation and SLeague forums.
However, this would leave one forum redundant, which I get the feeling Markos is not too keen about; after all, that's what caused the Area 25 fiasco.

The old AlphaLeague (I think) forum was put out to pasture after a forum reshuffle some time ago. It wasn't visible from the main page, but you could type the address into the address bar (each forum has a specific number, and this one's was 25 - by going to say, the OT, which is number 41 or something like that, and changing the 41 in the address bar to 25, you could get to this unused forum). A load of people started posting on it, Markos got pissed off and banned the lot of them.

I found an 'Area 26' when the CtP2 forums merged, but the route to it vanished before I had time to bookmark it, or post more than one "Where am I?" post.
(Awaits PCR of one post )

The best place for this kind of thing is Dracon's old forum, the Mod Asylum. However, no-one posts there any more.

Well, If I ever make another scenario, it will be for ToT. And in that case I will post about in the Scenario League forum (and the ToT one). Simply because that's where the experts are. Of course there are lots of differences, but the different versions also have a lot in common, and it would be silly to "ban" all ToT designers to their own corner while the rest uses their cozy Scenario League.
Since the Creation forum and even the ToT forum to some extent (apart fom some succession games and general/help ToT questions... Maybe the ToT forum could eventually, not just yet, be merged into the General forum) aren't exactly all that busy, so additional traffic to the SL forum would be negligable, if moved under the Civ2 header. And as a bonus, those newcomers will find their way up easier... And every sensible Civ2 player should welcome newcomers since the Civ2 community has already decreased and will still be decreasing.
I used to think the SLeague should remain separate last time this discussion was held, but now I've changed my mind. I don't think the somewhat elitist view of most SLeague posters doesn't do the Civ2 scenario creation any good, and that's what it's all about in the first place.

What if you leave Civ II creation where it is, but link its files directly to the SLeague and combine the forums... sort of like have 2 portals to the Sleague?

How about deleting everything except the Dinosaur forums...
and making sure every post is "on topic"

Speaking of the Mod Asylum, Apolyton could actually learn some lessons from it. The Spam forum, for instance. and the Porno forum.
Then there was the time when I took over moderatorship of almost all the forums. That was funny...for about 5 minutes.

Actually porno forums are very dangerous. I frequented the mother of all of them at the stileproject, and it was just shut down cause idiots had been posting entire series of watermarked images and photographers began to threaten lawsuits. Thats not Apolyton's style either though, so I digress.
But I dunno, the SLeague is different than Civ2 Creation. Note that CivFanatics has no Sleague forum, but only a Civ Creation. I prefer being a part of a community of designers that transcends game versions.
