Worker Holidays?
On two occassions in my current game a mass of my workers, about 16 (in fact all those on automatic polution control I think) gather in one city. This is even though there is perfectly good polution to be getting on with.
Im playing as America and on the last occassion they gathered in Orlando!
Any ideas whats going on.

Only two workers will clean pollution at a time.

Something you might try is keeping a few on manual control. Then, if pollution occurs in mountains or another spot that's hard to clean, you can order extras on the job.

Other things that might be happening:

Your empire is so huge that they don't feel like going so far away. I don't know if this happens for a fact, but it does seem to me that workers only look so far away for job before going to sleep.

Some people have mentioned a pre-patch bug where workers wouldn't wake up.

Christ just manage your own workers, it adds fun! I like clicking 5-6 thousand times on shift-r, sure I might get arthritis in 20 years, but it's worth it.

Yes, everyone knows that waking up 16 workers to clean up a bit of pollution is fun!! And the next turn when you get to move 16 workers back to a central worker-site an fortify them there again, 16 times, well it just doesn't get any better than that!!

Managed to establish diplomatic relations with my workers, but they are demanding 1 gold each per turn before they touch any more pollution. Just kidding.

I've had game for over a couple of months now, and I have quit the game every 10 minutes 'cause my wrists start hurting

If you live in the US you could always sue Firaxis and Infogrames for your development of carpal tunnel syndrome.

That's what you get for naming cities Orlando.

Next time name them after working class towns like Pittsburgh.

That's what we get for electing Ronnie, who appoints a bunch of Justices far to the right of mainstream society.

But to keep this on Civ, isn't it a good thing there's no Supream Court in Civ to overide actions (like pop rush).

OK, Supreme Court of Justice, I thought we were talking about Diana Ross & Co... No wonder it made no sense.

Suing a game company because YOU got carpal tunnel playing their game is real mainstream??? Just what we need, even more frivolous law suits.

Let me guess, suing McDonald's for people getting fat (which they are trying to do believe it or not) and suing the US goverment for slavery reparations is mainstream, too?

I thought I was pretty middle of the road, but if that's mainstream, I must be a right-wing extremist.

Anyway Kamrat X back to naming cities (what was this thread about originally) I already had a Pittsburgh. My favourite is Springfield now thats working class; at least it looks it on the Simpsons. I would just never build a nuclear plant there. Now a patch that gave you the simpsons faces on the springfield city screen that would be cool.
