Looks like CivFanatics got the news before Apolyton.

Well I didn't see it as a news item and I thought the other threads were just talking about a patch that they didn't know the arrival time of.

Perhaps reading the threads prior to judging their content might be a good idea.

The patch passed Q&A on the first attempt so its safe to assume that no major changes were made.
Or am I giving the InfoMordor Q&A too much credit?
I expect that we are seeing a distraction patch, a bone tossed to appease the crowd while work commences on the expansion which folks will have to pay for.
The length of the expansion development cycle is based on the sales of the game. It is selling well enough to warrant an expansion, but no well enough to project the expansion as a major source of income. So, they will get the expansion out pretty soon.
I am betting that the final release, a Gold Version with Multiplayer will follow.
If the game had been a mega hit we would have seen an expansion next Christmas and the Gold for the following Christmas. But given the weakness in the game the whole cycle will be abreviated.
IMHO.
Of course this means less features, less bug squashing, less polish across the board.

I skimmed some of them. I don't every single post in this forum carefully. It's been the same old **** here for 2 months so why should I waste my time.
And it's good to see that after your banning you're still as rude as ever.

Rude? And I suppose I should take etiquette lessons from someone who spams the boards with day-late and dollar-short threads merely because he will not give members the courtesy of a careful read?
The hubris.

I think that unless Firaxis is ready to right off TBS games as a good source of income, they will do well by Civ3 in the end.
With their history, I doubt righting off TBS is something they will want to do.
You can only slap Sid's name on so many boxes before it stops selling.
I suggest that everyone remember their positions on the game as of about this date. Then compare that with your feelings once Firaxis says they are done.
Some of us, on one side or the other, may need some salt to go with the crow.

Does anyone know if they will include stacks in the upcoming patch? I haven't read any of the threads in this forum so I don't know.
And BTW, they may give out the readme tomorrow of what's in the patch.

A credible source has indicated that s/he has received assurances that one attribute of the new patch will be group movement. Whether s/he was misled by a faulty leak, we'll see shortly.

I've seen suggestions that group movement is in. Let the celebrations begin!
Stacked combat? I don't think so.

Well if the suggestions are more than suggestions and actually fact than I will be celebrating. The long wait might have been worth it after all.

Suffice it to say that, unlike starting location assignments, it has not yet been denied by Firaxis.

If so, what are the changes?

This means that 1.16f was a bug-fix patch since it needed much work to fix all those bugs.
Since now, there is not much bugs, only tweaks, most problems are solved before Q&A.

If we assume they've been working on the second patch since the first patch was released, and they have had two weeks of holidays for Christmas and New Year, and the second patch takes about as long as the first to produce, then I expect to see the second patch in the last half of February.

Looks like I got one right.

I wish they hadn't announced this before having the path available.......... i've read the "readme" and am quite wishing i had a lot of those features right at this very moment...... the unit activation ordering is definitely lacking at the moment..... seems like it's using the same exact logic Civ 1 used... the same ordering, as though things haven't evolved a single bit over all these years.
*sigh*
