First sign of the apocalypse at Nintendo
The end is nigh, fools!

Well, what do you think? It certainly is...unnerving...

(for those of you too lazy to click on the link, Sonic the Hedgehog is going to be on Nintendo platforms from now on.)

don't forget the all important poll: Who'd win a dance competition? Sonic or Mario?

And I thought Sega would survive. I guess not. I really didn't think playstation would do as well as they have.

Before the Playstaion 1, Sony was humungous (and still is). The big Japanese cheese like Microsoft is. They could put as much money as they wanted into product development, signing developers, quality control, MARKETING, etc. etc. They could afford to invest such that they lost money for years if they wanted and not blink an eye. Sega was tiny compared to them at the time.

Besides marketing, the big key was signing on well-known and established software developers, even stealing Squaresoft away from Nintendo. Games are the key. Even though the XBox and Gamecube have superior hardware than the PS2, people are still buying more PS2s and PS2 games, just because the game quality is much better.

I'd have to say that the shear glut of games available for the PS2 helps it more than any inherent quality.

Thank you Dino, as I was going to say as well.

I still prefer Nintendo. I can get by on just a couple of good games rather than a million inferior ones, and I hope to every god that other Nintendo fans can as well.

As for Sonic, it's sometimes possible for an enemy product to work for you.
