Smart Move by FIRAXIS
I tip my hat to them...
What a smart move releasing the patch today after announcing it would be Friday.
I've read a lot of "negative" things about them on this forum, and I just want to give them credit for when they make the right move.
Two great purposes were served with the "Friday" announcement.
First, if by some weird chance there had been a last minute problem, they would probably have had the time to fix it and still make the deadline they had set for themselves...
Second, it helps with us downloading it. Granted, with so many people waiting for it, there are going to be times when it's going to be tough... but by doing it on surprise today, they may have at least spread it out over a longer time since many may even miss that it is out a day earlier...
Oh, and a special thanks to them for being so responsive to people's questions today

Total agreement, Ming! After a period of dead silence, the day-early release and rapid responses to questions was....awesome!

well i thought it was a good move cause people could actually discuss the path tomorrow in the chat... i.e., having played it we would be more familiar with it.
yes good move indeed, and the new activation sequencing is definitely working. especially for stacks, great job!

Gee, somebody who thinks that Yin's zingers are even original or good... Hard to take any opinion you have seriously after that

Mingster,
If you are surprised that this patch was released one day early, how do you feel about the fact that the game itself was released oh, about four months early. You must have been ecstatic.
jt
ps.. I am glad they are still working on it, but be aware that they are planning an expansion or two...otherwise you wouldn't be seeing anything.

I have no problem with the game being released early... I wish they had released it sooner than they did. I have no problems with work in progress as long as the support continues. And I have no problem buying xp or gold editions. That happens to be the nature of the business. I have realistic expectations... So to complain about Firaxis when most other companies do the same thing... it's not worth the effort. Yeah, Yeah... everything should be perfect... but it isn't a perfect world.
If you don't like the game, nobody is holding a gun to your head to play. And then you can be exactly like Yin... you can criticize a patch that you have never played:P

More originality from a person that doesn't even own the game...
I think the real sad thing is that you probably think you are funny
But you are trying to take this thread into spam land... I wouldn't recommend doing that

Coming from a guy who admits he would pay for this game had it come even SOONER and MORE bug-ridden, I take it you would have been happy with just the box-cover and some coupons to Denny's.
Move over, Ming. Make room for real gamers.

Hey, you took the first shot making it personal at me, Mingy. Can't handle it? Don't piss where you plan to walk.

Yeah, you probably do think you are funny... real sad.
Sigh... another spam post... If you are going to post, stay on topic or post something useful about the game you don't own.
I'm actually serious. You are threadjacking and spamming...

First... you posted the first spam. And having the opinion that your "zinger" was original in not that personal. Far less personal than your original post implying everybody that bought the game and likes it is a sucker.
So stop your spamming...

Let's get this straight:
Ming: "All Hail Firaxis for actually doing something right."
Yin: "Yes, they did something right. Now keep working."
Ming: spams Yin and jimmy
Care to keep going?

More like...
Ming: a smart marketing move releasing the game early (no comment at all about any perceived flaws in earlier marketing efforts)
Yin: Everybody that bought the game is an idiot and a sucker, and only people like me who have sold the game are smart.
Ming: Comments that your lines aren't even original (which is a fact)
Yin: Insult Ming direct...
Yin: you are stupid for liking the game
Yin: more insults... more spam
No need to keep going. because if you continue spamming, it won't be a problem much longer

How the hell you jump to the crap you jost posted is beyond me. This CLEARLY says: Yes, they did a good job -- keep working.
That was my FIRST post in this thread. Jimmy liked it. You spammed both of us for it.
Care to argue that? Can't stand being wrong, Ming? Because you are wrong here, pal. Like to threaten me some more to cover yourself for bad judgement (and worse reading ability)?

Here's a starting link for you. Clearly you don't understand what 'carrot and the stick' means. This is nice. A learning opportunity for Ming:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/0103/30/p.../pageone3.html
I have lots more links to explain the meaning, if you care to inform yourself.

Yeah.. I will argue that. You are welcome to see things in your way, and I will mine.
I only responded to a comment that Jimmy made about your zinger... you then went crazy Using your own logic, if Jimmy's post wasn't spam for commenting on your post, why should my post commenting on his then be spam.
You then started with the personal insults... so who is in the wrong here. You

HILARIOUS! So never mind that you clearly don't understand the meaning of 'carrot and the stick' or that you then took the chance to spam in your own thread only to accuse ME of spamming when all I did was take issue with your (humours?) insult against me?
Keep 'em coming, Ming! This is the funniest you've ever been!
As I said before, if you want to attack me directly or indirectly, funny or not, when all I did --as is clearly documented above-- is to join the conversation, be prepared for me to directly or indirectly, funny or not, do the same back to you.
Or can a mod spam, mis-read and threaten with impunity?
