If planes could sinks ships, should ships have...
If planes could sinks ships, should shi[ps have somekind of SAM missile battery? I think that would be a great idea! Imagine that, planes can sink ships let's say 1 in 10 times, but ships can have a 75% chance of blocking the air raid, if they put the addon on the ship!! It would give more depth to the game! What do you all think?

It needn't be constrained to SAM batteries. For later ship classes like destroyers, battleships, etc., a general AA ability be given.

And perhaps it needn't be hard to implement. Perhaps AA could be identified in code to be some given percentage (20-30%) of a ship's attack or bombardmentment value. This value could then be applied against attacking aircraft to cause one of three possibilities:

1) AA attack fails, air strike resolved as is present (with chance of ship unit loss if damaged enough)

2) AA attack fails to damage aircraft unit, but causes it to abort strike.

3) AA attack damages aircraft unit, and also causes it to abort.

And alternately for the AEGIS cruiser, these could have inbuilt SAM capacity.

A whole new can of worms, but maybe there should be an advance called radar and with it a FLAK unit and a radar station improvement like the old air field improvement - you can see a certain distance - something like it is in SMAC. SAM comes latter maybe with an improved radar. See other threads on antiship, antiair ratings, et. al - bottom line fix game so planes can sink ships but balanced with planes can be shot down by ships.
