And heres a map. I think that the states and territories are correct for April 1861, bar the addition of West Virginia.
The thick black lines show the land nominally owned by the main powers. However, it is the actual colour that shows whether said land is occupied by that power or by Indians.
As you can see, Mexico has annexed all of Texas that was taken away in the Mexican-American war during 1846.

So guys, you really think I like to be the tech laggard??
Well, OK, I got used to it, so why not...
Can't you hear the drums?? The braves are already on the "war trail" (how do you say that in english??).
So everybody, get ready for some tech begging coming from Cyrion (but I really hope I can have a little bit more influence in this game...).

What level of difficulty should I have chosen? I think I did choose diety, I think I should have asked. So what should it be?

I think we should start again at Prince before it's too late (i.e. before too many turns have been played...)
Of course, Soundwave might complain because he wants to play now

The great chief Mad Cow was really pleased to learn that some of the numerous White Skins to the south and the east were willing to teach some science to the indian warriors!!!
But for the present, the braves are interested in nothing except : Nomadism, Chieftain, Banditry and Gunpowder!!!
So, please, don't give me anything except one of those as it would be hinder my much needed development out of despotism (not to seem ungrateful towards those willing to help me, but as I start in Anarchy and only have Despotism at my disposal for now, I need to channel my science towards Chieftain!! So please, don't slow me through the diplo window...).
After Chieftain has been reached, of course, the braves will be glad to learn everything needed to develop peacefully under the sky...
Mad Cow has spoken

One of our sea raiders has sank 2 Yankee frigates. Exuberant crowds gathered and cheered at the demise of the yankees.
And ofcourse, the save...

The Havana Herald
French Marines today secured Merida. It is understood that the ctiy's garrison mutinied against the Mexican government following the gift of 200 gold worth of wine

I'm really sorry to do this, especially since this game was really starting to speed up (everyone managed to play their turn while I was at school ) but I think someone has to play their second turn again.
The reason? Some generous leader has gifted Mexico a whole bunch of techs that I didn't want . They've obsoleted the best units Mexico can field (ie bandits)
Can whoever it was please replay their turn? Bandits are the only good thing about Mexico at the beginning, I wont have a chance versus Case without them. And next time you want to give me techs could you please check with me first.

I fully agree with Winterfritz about gifting tech: please check with the "receiver"!!
The only difference with the Mexican for this turn is... I simply LOVE the techs I have been given, so please while replaying give me the same techs again...
By the way Winterfritz, I didn't give you any tech...

I wanted to pass on some military tech but it was all economic that allowed me to, though I doubt that obsoleted your bandits... let me check.
BTW, I'll clean the scenario for you clear of the tech that screws up bandits if you like in order to prevent replaying all these turns.

From memory, Railroad seems to be the culprit. But if you stop it from obsoleting bandits, then suddenly every major power will be able to build bandits, which would probably unbalance things.
So it'd probably be better if you just replay your turn, El Awrence. If the AI keeps asking for RR, then just don't give me anything for the time being.

Well, while I appreciate your alliance you must always, always check with the player before you do stuff like that. Having the AI negotiate for you is like sending a two year old to secure your release from a hostage situation...
Can you please play your turn again? If you want to ally, set your stance to worshipful to me and I'll do the same in my turn, and then we'll ally without problems.
