i've never tried it but I got this tip from a bum in the subway.
apparently the olive oil being lighter floats up to the top of the stomach fluids and prevents the alcoholic gases from getting you drunk quickly.
so it doesn't prevent drunkeness caused by the alcohol entering your blood stream (which it will eventually do) but it prevents a quick drunkeness from occuring (since it blockes the cause of it which is alcoholic gases)
pretty sophisticated bum

Unless of course you are a fat bastard of 300lbs.

In two goes. Had to pause for breath
I didn't feel fine for the rest of the night, I felt fine for about 20 minutes, then felt very, very, very drunk for the rest of the night, which was cool because it was free (it was a bet), but I couldn't talk, walk or think straight as I said. I was pretty sick later on at my mates house, but this was at about 3am and after I'd had a couple more beers when the effect started to wear off at about 1am.
I weigh about 150-160lbs, and I'm 5'9"
I can't drink any other drink like that, only vodka for some reason. I can drink 10 pints of larger, although this will usually result in me being sick. I've never tried drinking that much wine. I can't handle cider at all, it is pure evil, 3-5 pints and I'll be leaning over the toilet bowl. When I am sick it is usually in the early hours of the morning.
(Anything else you want to know about how I drink...?)

I'm drinking out of my own choise.
Had I been affected by peer pressure I'd probably have begun a year or two ago.
I don't intend to drink alot nor do I put an aim of being drunk.
My current aim is to slowly build alcohol-stamina, so that when I'm older I will be able to drink more.
I didn't get that grapes and grain thing. You mean no to mix beer type drinkes with wine and such? Fine.
At least tell me what's vodka then - grain or grapes?
Vodka is the most popular alcoholica bevarage among Israeli youth. I guess it has to do with the fact that a good share have some kind of russian roots, and every 5th person is a russian immigrant.
I would assume people from eastern decent would drink Arak or something (Iraqi popular alcoholic drink).
Also tequila is popular.
I noticed that beer isn't as widespread or popular as it is in america. It seems that in the US people drink it like we drink coke here.
And if we want to drink alcohol here, we go for vodka or something.
Most people, and youth esp. don't go for the fancy liqours and brandy and whatever. They know vodka and that's enough for them.
So, any more advice?
Like things not to do while drunk?
And things to do if you feel overly drunk?
btw, I didn't feel drunk but lightheaded and that was when I finished a quantity of about a small glass of vodka.

alcohol tolerance wears off if you stop drinking. And I think for you to build a tolerance you need to drink almost everyday, larger and larger amounts. Obviously not advisable unless you want to end up like that poor guy Boddington's

If you are amongt close friends do whatever the hell you like
if you are in a party or something like that don't act like a fool. It's a very common disease for anyone who becasme drunk the first time. It is hilarious, I've seen quite a few people in that situation but remember the joke is on you.

Stop drinking and if possible eat something. Strong coffe will give you some of your clarity back.

Technically its potato.
In this instance it is considered grain.
I often start with beer and move on to mixers/spirits simply because they are less voluminous.
The only time I truly feel ill from alcohol is when I drink wine and then some other alcoholic beverage. The point is - once you start drinking wine do not switch to any other form of alcohol during the same session. The other thing I've noticed about wine is that it takes longer to get hit by the effect, upto several minutes - (must have bad circulation preventing the alcohol reaching my brain. )

Well in the US most beers would not be misleading if they were called soft drinks.

Funny wine story for me....I was drinking red wine with dinner one night, just kept drinking, didn't feel that drunk at all, conversed fine and everything.
An hour later, after a great many glasses (don't remember how much) I tried to stand up.
Well, I stood up OK, then wobbled around a bit, then stumbled to my room and fell in front of my computer
Moral of the story? For me, at least, drinking wine doesn't make me feel drunk. But I am drunk, it just doesn't feel like it.
Anyone else notice this with any other drink, or am I just odd?

You must first learn your limitations. Go out and drink as many cans of beer as you can until you fall asleep or vomit, this is your beer limit. when you wake up go out and do it again just to make sure.
Repeat ,repeat repeat.

It's not the drink, it's the position in which you drink it. If you drink while being sat down, you won't feel drunk at all before you stand up. That's usually funny when I begin drinking with my friends we're usually all sat down in front of a table, fireplace, tv or something. And when we get up and go out...whee...enough said
Oh, and as to what NOT TO DO when drunk: If you have a cell phone, DON'T TOUCH IT! Never! It's the most dangerous weapon you might have. I know that for a fact. When you're drunk enough with a cell phone, you (or one of your friends) will eventually start calling everyone and that's not nice. At least when you imagine what obscenities you/they will shout in the phone.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the "Prime Directive" of drinking...
Liquor before beer; never fear. Beer before liquor; never sicker.
Moral of the story is, don't drink the hard stuff after a bunch of beer. You're just asking to puke if you do.

It's more of a tip for beginners. Hardcore drunks can usually ignore it, although even I find it difficult to stomach a Three Wisemen after a few beers.
I think it really depends on how "hard" the hard liquor is.

One of the most important things that hasn't been touched on here is to know how much alcohol you're drinking...for a beginner it's very easy to have 9 or 10 alcopops in an hour and feel like they haven't hit you. But they can be stronger than most beers.
Keep track of the quantity of alcohol you drink - don't bother worrying about mixing drinks. That doesn't matter at all. Old wives' tale. Folklore. Myth. Etc etc.

I must say I am surprised though, it is possible for you to have your fill of beers.

Okay, first you need to find a park full of unwashed fourteen-year-old kids. Ask your younger, poorer friends at school and they can possibly help you. Next, look for the moonshine salesman with the cheapest etanol- usually identified by the low quality of the plastic dunks it's served in. Buy his produce. Also, if possible, find a decent PET bottle of GHB to spice things up a bit. Apparently, or so I heard, you also get drunker faster if you swallow a dozen headache pills beforehand.

Alcohol increases desire but reduces ability to "perform". You'll just end up embarrasing yourself if you are too drunk.

Though if you're so drunk you tongue is hanging out of your mouth, and you have uncontrollable shakes, you might still be able to satisfy your female friend... Coordination might still be a bit of a problem though.
