the way i look at it, i think it's a good thing because the more copies of civ3 they sell the more money they will make and the greater the likelyhood they will continue to work on patches for it

Yep. And with such a big customer base, they'll likely release an expansion pack chock full of goodies (that's what I hope for...)

Contrary to what "some" people are saying... the game is still selling well. At this point of the product cycle, these sales are usually generated by word of mouth. So somebody must like the game.
Let's hope they sell a bunch more...

I can't believe that Sim City 3000 UL is still on that list. I bought that game nearly 2 years ago, and haven't touched it in almost a year.
Just goes to show you the longevity that a good strategy/simulation game can have. I wouldn't be surprised if Civ III is still on that list 2 years from now as well.

Hmm, did anyone else notice that SimGolf was even on the lists? Just an observation...

like thingy(i aint so hot with names) said with sim city 3k, (i go that and had it for yrs, played it twice) just cos a game is selling well, dont mean ppl are playing it...... which means a sequeal would die like bad comedian do corny jokes in a led zeppelin filled with doubly explosive hydrogen (or is it helium?).
but then again, civ3 aint THAT bad. its just hoping that an XP pleases both civ2vets and casual strat gammers, instead of just on group....
and i am surprised bout sim golf, that game rules.

10th in sales aint bad for a game that still has no MP , no scenerios and a very sketchy editor. if i wasnt such a fan of civ2 i would have waited for them to finish the game first before wasting my money and time !

Goodie Goodie Goodie.....
More sales = better chance of an expansion = better chance of scenarios like in civ 2 which is what I like to play. This is a good game. And civ2 didn't have all the tools to make scenarios right a way - so no I am not whining - just waiting with large amounts of expectation. Keep on sellin'.
Peace

Age of empires?? That game still sells copies?? But there's Broodwar, Red alert2 and all that stuff!! Why would ppl still want to play Age of crap?? All races have same units, same buildings, same everything exept some minor A/D/M differences for 1 unit per race.......I dont get some ppl.....

The popularity of such a repulsive series like The Sims is one of gaming's biggest mysteries.
SimGolf was not released until around January 28, therefore, watch for it on the February lists.
As far as Civ3, this makes the Gold Edition (with a cornucopia's worth of goodies) all the more likely.

Ever play SimLife? Garbage, you could turn it on and do nothing and the game would play itself. Such a challenge!

Oh yeah, sell baby, sell!
I hope they sell a billion copies of Civ3, so I can download a kick ass expansion pack some days.

I see that Civ3 is the most pricey item on the list...
The clinging onto in the top 10 of sales points more to a dearth in good computer games rather than anything else...though that seems to be so often the case.
While "Medal of Honour" and "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" are a good blast at a lan cafe (well, MOH ain't really go that...multiplayer has some big issues, sniper of bazooka man? and I can't sprint between cover so you move you become fodder!) I wouldn't buy them full-priced...
At the moment I play civ3 and Operation Flashpoint as Single-player game...nothing else really competes.

I suggest that after they FINALLY get Civ III working right, they make new disks. . . and allow all of us with the original disk to trade it in.
I'm getting tired of the continuous patches as we all act as beta playtesters for this unplaytested game - at $44.95 a shot.

The only redeeming quality of the SIms was that you could set people on fire.
