Well I've never been entirely convinced that you found the link and that was that. The link was well hidden at the bottom of the second page of a 3 page thread. But be that as it may - I made a very convenient fallguy
The other factor Area 25ers don't mention is that there was a huge falling out between them just before A25 went down. Some of the younger ones were doing some very inappropriate stuff (like posting porn links) and the older Members were walking away in disgust.
The whole thing was getting too hot and was on the verge of imploding when Ming found it. It was a Soviet nuclear reactor about to go critical
A good thing he found it then too because it could have got a whole lot worse.

I think it might be a cool idea to have a completely unmoderated non-post count apolyton forum. As long as nothing hateful or pornographic was on there, it would be cool.
I wish I was around the OT during the a25 mess.

For never having known about the place until after the fall I've certainly gotten alot of enjoyment out of it. Love the story AH.

The things I remember most from the infamous thread (started by one cookie or wookie or something IIRC ) were a number of Finbars comments. Perplexing at the time but utterly hilarious when taken in context after the fact.

I remember someone warning me not to post there as myself but to use a DL, I naturally never had a DL so I did not post.

You guys are too much!
This is getting to look like a kindergarden in some ways!
No, really! It is! Some act like really mean, naughty kids (the usual you-know-who trolling group), breaking the rules over and over again, and then on the other side there are the old geesers (the usual you-know-who mods/admin ), always trying to catch those rebel kids, and putting them on detention!
I love Apolyton!

I do start to regret I wasn't into the Area 25. I guess that place gave you a great feeling while there, no? Thought I wouldn't like to get banned either...
Remembering those nice days I spent into the Area 51, tied to the bed, and having experiements conducted on me. Bad done, Cancer Man!

But on the other hand, what if Ming wouldn't discover Area 25? I don't know for how long did it go on, but, AFAIK, not too long. While if Ming hadn't spotted it, the guys would get 50 posts a day, and the Area 25 would stay there right until we upgraded to the VBulletin.
BTW, a nice idea. Gotta scan for Area XX in these forums, too .

Actually it was only a matter of time before the thing was discovered. For example on the old front page of the forums there was a "who's online" feature at the bottom of the page which showed who was online and what forum they were in for anyone to see. Day after day you could see a whole list of OT regulars in another forum, not the OT - forum 25.

No, HTower, the program left after Apolyton became overloaded with users And they had to disable some things.
And about Area25- some people racked up over a 1000 posts there, I think. I am not sure, but Comrade Dan went from about 2000 to 4000 in about a month.
FireDragon- http://www.freefirezone.net
it was unmoderated- it didnt work
Wishful thinking

AH... I would hpe that the ARea25ers would have been smart enough to have multiple windows open to mask their operations in that region of the site

I was unjustly punished in the whole affair. It was a cruel life-lesson for me...the tattling little snitch gets off scot-free and the noble, misunderstood humanitarian gets done over a barrel with sand thrown in!

I seriously doubt anyone racked up anywhere near 1000 posts there, it was a laugh but I certainly didn't expend that much energy on the place.
Comrade Dan did a lot of post-count acquisition somewhere in the middle after area 25 and no one knew where they came from...he must have been sly on the on-topic.

Civ3 suggestions was unlocked? At least until Civ III came out.
I posted there.
Well- I remember one of your own data things (PH) showed a huge increase in posts for several posters in the Guild of Emperors right before the thing was shut down
David- FFZ unmoderated didn't work. The OT is moderated now, is it not? (And with good reason)
