Just a snap from the news today...
As the war in Afghanistan progressed, U.S. foreign policy alarmed a broad cross-section of European politicians and public figures. They complained that the United States was directing its anti-terror campaign without consulting its European partners.
In late December, support for widening the conflict beyond Afghanistan was slim, with just 32 percent of Europeans polled saying they supported attacking Iraq and Somalia if those countries supported terrorism.
Many European policymakers had expected American foreign policy would become much more multilateral after Sept. 11. Now, they fear that the clear superiority of the American military would make other nations irrelevant in U.S. policymakers' eyes.
Is this a surpirse to anyone in Europe?? Of course other nations are irrelevant in U.S. policymakers' eyes. Why should it be any different? It's not like you help when help is needed. But don't worry Europe. The next time you get yourself in trouble (which probably will not be long from now) the US will be there to bail you out... again. I'm so sick of it. Always complaining about US policy but to lazy or stupid to fix things themselfs. I'm starting to like Bush and his war monger advisors (can't believe I said that).
That's it for now... back to work.
|
Your statement based on the article you read is boring to me, because it's just another veiled Europe-bashing thread.
You oversimlify the problems and issues that European governments have to deal with. You do not acknowledge the fact that Bush urged help from other countries--that means he should not act so arbitrarily without consulting those from whom he asked for help.
I'm falling asleep from boredom as I finish typing this.

I give you an 8 MWHC,just to piss off the Euro-Trash.Especially all these newbies whom have no rights to judge anyone here unless you have a Kings title before 2000.
The French are still pissed about Louisiana.
The Spanish owe the Mexican Indians Billions in Reperations.
The Brits still walk around with limp wrist.(but must admit they are the best of that union)
The Canadians, why just ask any Russian about Canuks.
Europe will whine and cry,but will do whatever we want. That is what pisses you euro-trash citizens off big time.

MWHC does have a point buried in thier somewhere. Europe does have a historical tendency to stick thier heads in the sand and refuse to deal adequately with brewing crisises in thier own backyard (The re-armament of Germany before WWII and the actions of the Milosevic government are two prominent examples of this). Given thier historical incompetence, what possible advice can they offer the US in dealing with problems on the world stage?

It think we need to censor the words "Europe" and "America" so that when someone posts a deliberately antagonistic thread like this one, no-one has the faintest idea what they are going on about and go somewhere else instead.

So by your criteria you have no right to judge anyone either.

I disagree Roland,
I mean when the US comes screaming for our help in the 2040's we are bound to respond.
A North American continent ruled from Bejing would be no more in our interest than in theirs.

Remembering folks like Saddam and Manny Noriega, at least Europe didn't actively fund Milosevic and Hitler.

You guys want to rate the trolls, do it right.
This is at least a 7 on style and 8.5 on content, it hit home, riled up the Euros, and brought out their fav tactic, bringing up Vietnam.
We have insults, newbie bashings, Ming warnings, even people trying to argue against the truth, attempts to belittle the USA's history, this one has it all!
The master scored again, MWHC is light years ahead of you guys when it comes to trolling.
You could learn a lot from him about it.

What I've been wondering is how many Georgians there are in Georgia. I mean immigrants from that Caucasian state. The Caucasian state as in state, and state as in independent country, that resides in Caucasus. Those Georgians must get annoyed constantly.
"Well, ever since my family came over the seas from Georgia..."
"What? Overseas? But Georgia's here!"
"No, I mean from Georgia."
"Well, Georgia's Georgia, and we live in Georgia. What are you, thick?"
Also, during the cold war, did anyone ever get the idea of having hockey teams or whatever from two Georgia's to play against each other? No, wait, wasn't it known as Grusia or something like that back then?

I didn't say that the US has a better record. I said that Europe has a tendency to shove its head in the sand and allow a particular crisis to reach a boiling point before doing anything about it. Please try to comment on what I say rather that what you think I said.

That's a little harsh DinoDoc,
How on earth could Saint Marcus comment on anything but what he thought you said (unless you believe he is endowed with telepathy).
Maybe the fault was with your lack of explaination rather than Marcus' lack of understanding.

The US has learned the lessons of the past and conducts it's imperialism with much more impunity. To terrorising populations and getting their economic finger into the right pie, America intervenes quickly and heavy-handedly. Yes, imperialism has changed since the days of European colonialism. It is far more swift and effective at wringing every last drop from the population it is terrorising
