Sorry it's taking so long. Sitting on a rather unstable connection ATM away from my comp. I won't have access to my SMAX 'till sometime late tomorrow. I'll send it on as soon as I can.

I did. Someone...*Glares at other people in the house*...deleted it for who knows what reason, and I didn't bring the CD with me.

You mean you don't know the "take extra turns bug"
Unfortunately, everything I am doing is necessary just to keep up with you folks for when you pop-boom. I always figured Yang needs to come out of the early game with a pop lead or he is dead.

my empire is about as compact as it can be with the number of bases I have . perhaps both qantaga and i can try to develop more to the South -- ( I do have a couple of CPs en route North and east though)

Indeed. However with all that room south perhaps you could have considered moving down that way in the first place, hmmm?

Chairman Yang responded to recent discussions of his expansion
My people have expanded naturally in accordance with the needs of a growing population. Each colony is placed in a proximate site to maximize land utilization. WE are not imperialists bent on far-off colonies and therefore have not sent colonies far afield to claim any more land than our population requires. Lacking technology in the early years our colonists were afraid to brave the large swaths of fungus to our South and instead, travelled as our earliest human forefathers have done . . . they followed the fertile rivers and valleys to the north. To expect otherwise would require orders to the colonists which would have been seriously detrimental to the Collective
The land we have . . . we claim by the natural rights of first occupation and colonization. We were conscious of the needs of our University friends, however, and forbade colonization to the North-west and thereby ceded any possibility of colonizing the Sunny Mesa. To expect a further prohibition in regards of areas that it appears the University has rarely even visited would seem unreasonable. Our mapping indicates the University has a reasonably large unoccupied area in the centre of their empire.

It looks like tensions are on the rise.
I guess it's time to clear things up a little. Are we still in "All for one, one for all" mode against the aliens, or are we on our own now?

I don't know about tensions. All I am doing is building bases within my own territory and within 3 squares of existing Hive bases--
You raise a good point though . . . the game parameters are such that we cannot all win so the alliance has to break up at some point (otherwise its just a cooperative race to transcend ). I consider ourselves still allied in that i would currently give any tech requested and expect the same in return-- Oh qantaga--please send neural grafting --- But how and when does our alliance come to an end ??
If it is to end I believe it should be explicit so people can obtain whatever techs thay want that arose from our cooperative efforts. . . . personally I am happy to continue in the alliance

Kind of cheeky asking for NG the turn after poaching the Cyborg, isn't it, Flubber. And from the poachee, no less.

I confess that I had not even noticed that he was building it-- my turns were kind of rushed on the road such that I did not check to see what anyone was building--- I will likewise confess that I am not really that sorry one faction won't have both the CBA and the CF.
AS for requesting a tech, I thought that we were sharing all techs and qantaga has been a big beneficiary of that, as have we all.

The point isn't about asking for the tech. It just happens to be a tech with another SP attached.

Fair enough-- I had forgotten about the Neural amplifier-- I will undertake to never build the Amplifier if that is a concern --
It does raise another issue as to what we do when other SPs come up. the Longevity Vaccine, the PEG, Maritime control Centre, Xenoempathy Dome and Ascetic Virtues will all come up in the next little while as will the knowledge ones like HSA, Supercollider, Datalinks and TOE- I am sure there are some of them we all like more than others

I rather thought you had your eyes on the Datalinks. since you're researching Cyberethics. Likewise, I'm researching Prog. Psych so I can follow with Adaptive Econ and Planetary Econ. Morgan, dontcha know? Archaic looks to be working toward Supercollider. Q towards LV. I haven't given much thought to MCC, HSA, or TOE(!) Xenodome is one of my favorites, but I'm not determined to go to war over it. If I don't get the Virtues, I will.
Nice mixture of being precise and vague, what? We need more input.
I do remember warning that SPs might fracture this alliance.

Yes, I do remember that little warning of yours, Mongoose. The next decade or so should prove quite interesting. I am very flexible on all SPs, as long as we are trying to be fair about it. Otherwise, the alliance will certainly begin to disintergrate.
2166 on to Flubber.

actually I am researching it because I was choosing without a tech tree (and was too tired to search the datalinks) and I did not remember the techs associated with the other SPs. Besides I figured our tech trading would still be on. So I am NOT going for the datalinks . . . just though the uni might like knowledge and everyone would not mind heading for fusion (IIRC the path correctly now)

Are you saying that you will go to war over the ascetic virtues ?? I wouldn't fracture our alliance over it but its one I like as well for the benefit of +3 police-- If you are calling "dibs" on that one I will accept that since you folks allowed me some nice ones
my list of of the soon available SP's( in rough order of preference)
Ascetic (love those police)
Planetary Energy grid ( make up for a weakness and a free facility for the cash starved))
TOE or supercollider ( don't they do the same thing-like-em both)
LV -- can never have too much drone control
HSA-- handy but not when tech sharing--
Xenodome (don't care)
Datalinks ( Not much use while tech sharing)
Don't get me wrong, I love all of the first 6 on this list and usually really like the last two. If we wanted to we could agree to take two each ( I would agree to pick last) The first round could even turn out to be easy if your suppositions about the others choices is correct.
The problem is that the CV and the Pholus Mutagen are not much further and then its the refinery and the UT. . . . I guess all of this goes back to how this alliance is going to evolve. The AI do not seem to be a threat now so if we are to continue we need to explore more what the deal is .

I am also precise and vague. Do we compete for the SPs we want or do we each choose somehow? I worked on the assumption that they were all fair game unless we agreed otherwise. How do others want it to work? I'm open to ideas.
