I've seen the unit for dirt cheap at electronics boutique, including a couple of games with it. Is this console worth getting at the price? what are the upsides and downsides to dreamcast?

Well, it kind late to buy a Dreamcast.
With Playstation II, X-Box & Gamecube out there I don't think you would like to give it a try. Unless you find a similar offer like the one Venom mentioned. Well, if not with 30 games with 10 of the best though it would be a good deal.

It was a good machine back in 2000 and if you have a friend who has it go play some great games like the ones I mentioned.

So any other Dreamcast player around?

I had to make a finger transplantation after I first played this one

I had a pain on it at list for 3-4 days but I must admit I enjoyed it too much
