I say eliminate oceans as we now know them. The reason is that if you drain away the oceans, they are just depressions in the earth's surface.

Not correct. Oceans are not mearly depressions in the earths surface. Rather, the continents are bumps over the ocean surface. The rock that the ocean (not including continental shelf which is just continent underwater) is different to continental rock. I don't know if this will affect anything but there it is.

It's probably going to end up after about a month, this thread has over 100 posts, most of which are about you bumping and me retorting you because this thread is all but exhausted.

Yes Andz, this is exactly why some people were angry at you; bumping every two weeks is good, but every day, or other day, or third day- no... that's a post count reduction offence. See the rules, section XXX I believe.

the thread had disappeared on page 2 so I think it waa no foul to bump it. don't blame me for the amount of posts that are made here. do you by chance see the connection between one thread descending when anotherone's bumped?
also, it's the first thread that deals with a terrain model, though noone replies to it. why doesn't anyone want to make proposals, eh?
I should apparently have asked someone else to open this thread, my beloved fellows!

I agree with your suggestions! I like them very much. IMO the terrain model as we know it from SMAC was nearly perfect, but, however, it has to be adapted from Alpha Centauri to Earth...

now THIS looks interesting
I guess we need a climate model as well, if we are going to implement a terrain model like this.
BTW, isn't "1.0" a bit exaggerated. honestly, those "0.1" titels appeared a bit mor erealistic to me, although noone had anything to add to this one.
