Walkthrough for Civ3?
When I was playing Civ1, I found a walkthough on Apolyton (under faq's) called "How to Conquer the World in 24 hrs. or less - A Civilization Walkthrough" by Wayne Freeze.
It was very helpful to me.
Are there any walkthroughs for Civ3? They would be a god-send.
Is Wayne Freeze still around?

I would like to say DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT waste any coin on the "official strategy guide." 80% of it is a retread of the f---ing instruction manual (yeah, I already read that, thanks a lot) and the other 20% is such advice that horseman's "combat ability is pretty weak" and Mounted Warriors "lack strong defensive capabilities." Yuck, yuck, YUCK! When I was done reading this "advice" I felt like they took my brain out of my head, p*ssed on it, and shoved it back in there.

Is Vel's strategy available in a printable form? (I have read some of his ideas - good ones - but it is in a thread intermingled with lots of response from others. I wonder if I could just have Vel's latest.)
Also, I still would like a Walkthrough of sorts.

Vel's 3rd strategy guide thread has a condensed version of his other 2 threads with all the good ideas from them.
However, there isn't really a walkthru as of yet, since Civ 3 is still changing due to patches etc. And due to the fact that no-one has written one yet

I went to the Strategy Forum and found "Vel's Strategy Guide part two." Is this the "third thread" you are talking about that is the most up to date and a good summary?

sboog,
There are three "Vel's Strategy Threads." Both the second and third ones had summaries of what Vel deemed the best stuff thus far. Part III is here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=37122
Keep in mind that the 1.17 patch has changed some things, such as poprushing significantly.

Wow! This looks just like what I was wanting.
Thank you, Arrian, for the link to Vel's latest strategy guide.
I'm going to print it all out.
This is so helpful. Thank you again. (And thanks to Vel, too!)

sboog,
Hey, no problem. Glad to help. If you have trouble with any of the lingo in that thread, there was a thread (I think in the general forum) that compiled all of the abbreviations and their meanings.
REX (Rapid Early eXpansion), for example.
