I'd say that it was my SA map, i feel very proud of it.
As for actual gameplay achievements, i'd say it was my first diety victory (by conquest, actually) on a small random map.

My first world conquest. I was trying to get the spaceship, but the AI kept sneak attacking me. Take a few cities, make peace, repeat sneak attack. I ended up with the whole world before I even started building the ship - a high score at that time and lots of fun.

O yeah, I suppose my comprehensive guide to combat in CivII is worth some pride! It's in the War Acadamy at Civfanatics. There is a thread here in the Strategy forum, but that must have sunk to page 10 by now...

The discoveries of the gigamaps for MGE or ToT got me real high. Not the making of my no-limit patch, but the sheer surprise of loading in civ2map editor a oversized map of some 11000 squares after confusing numbers in hexa in the .mp file. And then the excitement of trying larger numbers still working, up to 32767. Yeah, I was feeling great that day. It’s our mistakes that make us go ahead !

My first game on a gigamap. That was fun, if slow.
The fact that I only won by default is irrelevant.

Definitely my first 2.42 Deity wins. It was quite satisfying to finally overcome my loathing of all the unhappiness at that level, and grind out a few wins.

In one of the OCC fortnight games I had an uprising five squares from my (totally undefended) city - there was this stack and a single rifleman just outside it - my dip reached the rifleman with one third of a movement left - bought him and he attacked the stack - 43 units lost!!!! - what a high..........

AFAIK I am the one and only civ2 player who has won the ww2 scenario playing the French (and I guess that winning ww2 as French must be considered quite an achievement by almost anybody ).

I've had plenty of good Civ2 moments...
Outside of Civ2 itself, I think my greatest achievement so far would be MapEdit, and everything that led to its creation.
I don't really know if there's really one greatest Civ2 achievement, but my most fun game recently was/is a ToT Chieftain level OCC game, my first serious attempt at OCC. I'm somewhere in the 22nd century by now I think, and I have a solid 1 city "empire" (on a small isolated island), only contested by the mighty Greeks with some 50+ cities. All Greek cities within bomber/paratrooper range have been decimated.

One of my greater moments?
Playing an OCC game for the first time and actually winning the thing landing on AC on a date earlier then i ever did in a normal game.
and now just to keep on going playing >1h turns in my attempt...

Zin Yu, Rah and I played that in MP. We took the Turks, Spanish, and Neutrals. What a blast. We killed everybody.
But I will admit, winning as the French is pretty amazing.
The last time I tried that... Germany takes half of France on the first turn
Congrats.

ww2 with smaller civs is great fun indeed.
I have also won with the Spaniards, the Turks and the Neutrals but I am not the recordholder for these. IIRC DrFell holds one record and FireDragon holds two (there is a thread named 'Arriba' somewhere in the archive, but I didn't manage to find it just now).

Thank you Apolyton!
I have found the thread 'Arriba' with help of the 'search' device.
Here is the current Hall of Fame for ww2 with smaller civs:
French (april 61): La Fayette
Neutral (oct 58): Fire Dragon
Spain (jun 53 ): Fire Dragon
Turks (dec 61): Fire Dragon
(...but Xin Yu has not yet tried these in SP ).
