Best times for me would be early morning (4:30-7:00 EST, 9:30-12:00 GMT), lunch time (12:00-13:00 EST, 17:00-18:00 GMT), or late evening (21:00-0:00 EST, 2:00-5:00 GMT)

I would prefer either of the two later options as I like to keep phone lines free during 09.30 - 12.00 noon GMT.

Re timing -- I can go with just about any time on the weekends. I'm in the US Central zone (GMT minus 6 hours). M-F daytime is no good (I work) and M-F evenings are late night in Europe.
So I'll suggest we go with a weekend time, maybe lunch in the US and thus early evening in UK. that would be the third of DaveV's options, and OK by Scouse Gits.
So we're getting closer!
For start-up contact, I'm on ICQ but don't have the number here at work (will post it from home later). I don't have anything else other than standard e-mail and these forums as a contact method...
All subject to change, but here are my current real-life settings...
Sat 06 Apr -- plan to golf but could change that
Sun 07 -- family commitment but OK if done by 3pm local time
Sat 13 -- looks good
Sun 14 -- looks open
Are we still on?
-Jrabbit, pleasantly surprised by a cheap Australian shiraz last night...

i can do the 21:00est start any day of the week. i cant download ICQ - it locks my comp but I am on AIM and Yahoo.
We still have to agree on rules though.
What happens if someone breaks the chain - do we wait or is there a backup plan.

SG -- Shall we try this again? Agree on rules and settings first, I suggest. I'm open to whatever.
Nice bump.

Let's get this thing going!
How about next Wednesday 20:00 - 21:30 GMT?
Suggestion - SGs host - SG(2) will set the game up - and post the IP address - SG[1] will toddle down the road and we shall play as a single entity
Rules as per DaveV's last post - any further clarifications necessary?
Restart if host has Steam Engine as a starting tech - oh ok then restart if host has any starting techs ..

i'll be at work at that time (I think 20 GMT = 3pm EST) I won't be able to start until 9pm est (I think thats 2 GMT thurs). As far as other days its pretty much the same every weekday. I could do a 20GMT start on the weekend though.

I likewise would have to lay off work to make a Wednesday 2100-ish GMT. We're on daylight savings now. I assume chicago is still GMT-6 hours. Correct?
I concur with Deity Dude that weekends would be better. (Conflicts still possible, but at least my wife can be bargained with.)

I'll be very busy for the next month or so with personal commitments and probably won't be able to participate in an online kickoff session. Don't let my absence stop you from starting the game: the only way to get it off the ground is to set a definite start time and start playing with whoever can make it.
Keep me in mind if you need a sub, though...

I've given up on this one, DDude. Still up for trying a PBEM thing, but we collectively let the iron cool on this one...
