In multiplayer games its really annoying when someone sends 5 caravans to another civ, and then uses all the cash generated from that to rush buy a spaceship in 1 turn.
A. I suggest that when changing production from any unit to a spaceship all shields are lost.
B. Spaceship parts can not be rush built. If this where to happen people would actually build factories, power planets etc. Because as the way the game is now they are totally useless (check the strat forums for a mathamatical break down that proves it)
Markusf, I agree...I've even used the "rush buy" option for the building of my spaceship in the past.
And you're right, if you have enough cash flow you can buy your ship instead of building it.
I do like the idea of not be able to rush buy any spaceship parts. This way you are forced to increase your production and deal with the resulting increase in pollution.

Yes I'd go along with the idea of stopping space-ship rush buys. I've never used the strategy myself, but this seems a good way of plugging the loop-hole.

Yeah in civ2 once i'd built a few structures and then my main enemy launched his to arrive in 15 or so years.
I had a load of cities and tons of cash so i built as much as i could concentrating on speed.next turn i had a spaceship that would reach AC in 12 turns so i launched and beat him there
Usually i'd nuke his capital city (spy/nuke) and send in a task force i always try to have sskulking around on a transport in strike range of every other civs capital.
33 structurals, 8 prop/fuel and 1 solar 1 hab 1 something else gives you a spaceship that lands in 5 turns
This costs about $12000 cash or 3 turns of all gold. Its crazy in mp games, cuz you can bypass all modern techs and go straight for the spaceship and win the game.
