The numerous reload messages were all trying to guess the password. I got it today from TC
In breaking news from Gaia's Landing, a leadership referendum has resulted in the ousting of the Chief Druid and his replacement by Runeskeeper Googlie.
In a message intended for external audiences, Runeskeeper Googlie issued this statement:
To all our friends on Chiron:
Our change in government will not result in a change of status with our many allies. We will honour all Treaties and Pacts, and will endeavour to work with those faction leaders we are in vendetta with to change that staus to Truce, if not to Treaty or Pact
And in an internal message, a copy of which was smuggled out by traders, he declared:
To all Gaia's Stepdaughters:
Insofar as I have been elected Supreme Druid, with the honourific "Runeskeeper", and the runeskeeping sect now controls our faction, we shall henceforth be known as "Druids of Chiron"
I am apalled at the state of our faction - bases have been left defenseless to the ravages of the native wildlife - scouts are rampaging all over Chiron, causing untold grief to my fellow faction leaders and we lag behind in technology and infrastructure.
Sacrifices are in order (and I do not mean to our Gods - I mean those of a personal nature - foregoing the comforts and pleasures for a while as we rebuild and resettle)
We have one great advantage - empathy with the native wildlife. We shall nurture and foster that.
Remember - the Mindworm is your friend.
Runeskeeper Googlie
End of message

Welcome Googlie, I hearby acknowledge the new leadership of your people.
Considering the delay in taking office, I trust that you have only contacted those that have contacted your former ruler, or are already in an agreement with?
Chairman SMH

To All who love Freedom!
Well, according to the Vidscreen Announcer on Planet TV why it is actually Chairman smhfan86 who has called this election! It also appears as though the election is a foregone conclusion in favor of Provost Zakarov, as all attempts to persuade CEO Morgan to even discuss the election were rebuffed (i.e. when I hailed him and tried to bring up the "election screen" option, it wasn't there). More .... We would bring these voting anomolies up with the Peace Keepers, however our low opinion of their bureaucratic ways as well as Commissioner Lal's current state of affairs leaves little doubt that this endevour would be of little value. We instead appeal to those factions in time zones which have not voted yet to view the situation with untainted eyes: would Provost Zakarov, who has never held a leadership position in anything other than an academic environment, really attempt to seize the Governorship from the ailing Peace Keepers, or is this really a more subtle approach by Chairman smhfan86 to step in as "savior" once Zakarov founders in office!?! I ask of you, free citizens of Planet, to either seek the protective shelter of the Spartan cloak if you are weak, or to stand beside us and oppose this affront to our freedoms if you are able! Long live Freedom!

What is Darsnan babbling about this time?
If I wanted to call the election, I would have waited until I had the second most votes and attempt to elect myself planetary governor.
Fact is, Darsnan could do far more damage with the infiltration on every faction than Zack ever could. After all, rumor has it, that Zack is nothing more than a machine, only interested in his academic research.
Darsnan, on the other hand, could prove most dangerous if his militaristic tendencies were combined with absolute knowledge on every faction.
p.s. The fact that Darsnan could not contact Morgan to bribe him is of no surprise, as Morgan and Lal had already abstained.
So Darsnan's claims of sabotage are only of his own imagination.

Ah, so the good Chairman would make it out as though the Spartans are lunging at phantoms, eh? Well, for starters, the relevent turn sequence is as follows:
Gaian
Hive
University
Spartan
with the rest still to vote
Therefore, if as you claimed that it was the University that called the election, then you should not have voted yet as your turn was before the University! * Also, I would challenge your claims about my abilities to "exploit" infiltration knowledge to my military advantage: as all wise Faction Leaders are probably aware, why it is too early in the game for any sort of military endevours, and as is the case for several factions, why just being able to eke out survival on this Planet is enough currently. I myself am barely able to field any military units, and our military computers tell us our strength is "Feeble". We share this knowledge freely in the hopes of reassuring anyone disturbed by the subtle nuances of the Chairman's words.
* OOC Note: I believe (but am not positive, as its late and its time for bed) that there is a PBEM bug whereby when the AI calls an election, it then appears as though the next human player in sequence has in actuality called the election instead. However, in good role playing, why the Spartans will always take advantage of the situation to make out the Hive to be their true sinister selves!

Good one Darsnan. Because I was just going to mention that it must be a bug, as I was caught off guard by the election call as well.
Actually, when u think about, it makes sense, because the fact that you're the spartans, and are the next human player, means that the UofP would take their turn after me, and the AI will play it's turn right after a human player, if it is next in line.
Therefore, Zack called the election after my turn was complete, but since the game was still active, I had to vote.
Also, all AI factions will vote immediately regardless of turn order.

Election exit polls indicate that Zakharov has been elected Planetary Governor
results:
Zak 20 votes
(Zak 11 and smhfan86 9 votes)
Darsnan 11 votes (himself)
Abstentions:
Xeno
PKs
Morgan
Googlie
(Morgan would have accepted an 88 credit bribe from me to vote for Darsnan !!)
