Old people?
Is it only me or is the "demographics"-page telling you odd things
occassionally?

I don't spend my time in that menu too much but when I do there is usually always something that feels very strange.

The family size of 1 (should represent negative population growth IMHO) but I really don´t remember ever having it
higher than 1 after the ancient era.

Currently I am puzzeled with another matter, though.
I don't have the slightest clue of what the the "disease" value
is other than the higher the worse. (disease cannot be good, right?)
A quick look at my demographics....oops...disease 2% - rank 8(=worst) ... must be bad I thought...must have something to do with Life expectancy....then I saw it....life expectancy was
93 years!! -
and I have not even reached the modern era.
I am somewhere in the middle of the Industrial era and the
world as a whole has been nothing but a battlefield for at least
a decade with every civilization fighing at least 2 war at any time....yet life expectancy 93??

I usually never make it to the modern era (=the game is getting
to boring during the industrial era to be worth continuing) but I was just wondering how high life expectancy might rise during the modern era?
After all, life expectancy should not rise dramatically before until
the modern age.

But then of course, maybe this offsets the oddity of the
small family size? A few children only...but they all will grow
veeeery old...so causing a positive population growth after all

Hospitals. I think that's what pumps up the life expectancy.

As to disease... I think it has to do with how many jungle and/or floodplains squares you have.

I'm pretty sure that family size is simply a reflection of how much surplus food you're bringing in per turn. Prior to hospitals, this is nearly zero for me, because my cities are maxxed out at size 12 for the most part, and I mine so I get max production out of them.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Actually, it represents a really high divorce rate. Build more temples to keep people married longer!

Heeeey, I play as the Indians. They are religious so building
temples is among the first things I do in my cities.
Too bad I cannot build more than just 1 of them in each city...

But...
Maybe there could be a "priest" special citizen or something that would allow your citizens to stay married longer.
