I have a better idea: play the gigamap version!
Seriously, I can't think of any motivation to play the original other than nostalgia, but that's just me. El, I know you were in the giga playtests way back when, now the final version's out...
Some teasers, from different games:
The Kriegsmarine unleashes hell in the Atlantic, and the End of Bolshevism
Deathblow on the Dnieper: Russia turns the tide
Japan and Germany fight a final death struggle for world hegemony

Havent tried it since way back (when there where rice paddies at the poles), but if it's been released now I suppose I could try it out...
I do like the look of that map (is the pacific bigger than the atlantic though?).

Yes, it's changed a TON since then; sas, Steve, Pap and I all worked on all the creation over at HB so you probably didn't see the progress.
So far the only problems we've encountered are a German Fairey Swordfish in Minsk, and that it may be unbalanced in the Axis powers' favor (though not much, sas won a game as the Allies).
The new files are here.

We'll need input from Nick, and a fifth player (unless one player does both Anglo-allies.

Urgh, I'm afraid that I don't have the time to join in a large PBEM. Sorry, but I'm going to have to bow out as well.

Bah, I have only begun to fight!
I'm going to be working full time from Febuary onwards,* and given the time frame of these games, I'd rather not commit myself until I figure out how much free time I'm going to enjoy.
*Just to boast a little, I'm currently in the enviable position of having to chose between two very well paid and rather prestigious jobs. If I told you how many people I beat to get them you'd show me a lot more respect. Or maybe not.

Hell, I beat half a dozen people to my job, that doesn't make tossing inferior ingredients onto a mediocre pizza any more glorious.

I beat 1,400 people, every last one of them a recent university graduate.

Somehow I don't buy that, how could they even process 1400 applications?

I don't know myself to be honest. I had to apply online, so I suspect that a lot of the sorting was done by computers. Then there seems to have been a team of 4 or so people who assesed them. There were about two months between my application and them ringing me to offer me an interview.
The jobs are both graduate positions in departments of the Australian Public Service.* They pay well, feature lots of professional development and 'graduates' are aparently put on a fast track for further promotion (or so they claim). If you think that 1400 applications is a lot, the Department of Foreign Affairs recieved well over 10,000 applications for their graduate program!

So you mean there were 1400 applications for graduate positions in the Public Service? You made me think 1400 people applied for a single position!

Well, I didn't expect the Spanish Iquisition
The 1400 appliactions were for about 20 jobs at the Department of Family and Community Services. If you want exact numbers, there were 1463 applications. Ergo, I beat at least 1443 people to get a job offer.

One could say from another perspective that you beat 73 people. I'm just giving you a hard time though, congrats of course.
