My thoughts exactly. It used to not be a priority, but we've experienced increased early hostilities, so why not.

I agree I just thought it was ironic since you built it in the last 3 games we played. What was funny was the last game we played I was rushing to get Metalurgy then we quit when I was about 5 turns away (I really wanted to see those walls come down)

Yes, you were saving those 20 crusaders for something.
But those vet pikemen fortified on a river forest would still have put up a good fight. There were a lot of units in my two cities there and the one you had.
While I was busy chewing your backside before you could get muskets. Even though vet pike/reg mustkets are real similar against vet crusaders.
Those three times you mention are probably 90% of the games I built the wall in the last 6 months. Having you for a neighbor is probably a bad influence

Yes, that was entertaining. But he was a sub and didn't know how HOT that region was. Of course Atawa didn't know it either.

Give me a break. The previous ruler hadn't done that much exploring. To me, it was all black, and it was the only place to put new cities. How could I know. I had to try to do something... 6 cities wasn't my idea of a grand empire

Oh.. I know you weren't... and while I had no idea "exactly what was going on"... I had a pretty good clue. But that was the only way out of my land mass, so I had to see how far I could push the border... It would have nice if you had just asked me to leave instead of just killing them on surprise. It's not like I was much of a threat to anybody. Heck, if you had marched a few of those crusaders into my land, there sure wasn't a heck of alot I could do to stop them.
That did change later by the way

Coldwiz,
Lacking any additional meaningful discussion, Please add NO GW into the official RAH rules. We've been doing it the last couple of weeks, and everyone seems to be satisfied. (meaning no one b*tched about it too much)

Naw, I want to leave oracle in. I've seen it built twice after it has already expired. It's always such a laugh i'd hate to have to tell them it's against the rules.

War4 "Ming built the Oracle"
Rah " "
War4 "should we back out"
Rah "Its against the rules, lets back out"
Ming " i didn't read the updated rules, comeone i am getting killed here"
Rah "rules are rules"
*everyone backs out"
*Ming builds Oracle again*

actually some times oracle is not such a bad buy.....theology isn't always a high tech choice in our games so i guess we should leave it in there

This blows... This is the worst land I've ever seen... no huts... all plains and mountains... and the only specials I've seen so far are coal and fish...
Oh... this isn't king chat...
Yeah... I've noticed that Theology seems to be coming later and later in our games. If you just get beat out of HG early, orcale doesn't look that bad at all.

But I have this sneaking suspicion that if someone actually built oracle, theology might become a higher priority just to pimp the person.

In our games... you bet
However... if the first person that gets to mono and builds the chapel then continues on to theology, it takes them even farther away from the invention race, or other races...
And again... I said "early"

yes but you can still win the invention race even if you dont win the race to HG.....or for that matter you could still be taken of the track even further and i do mean further if you went the SSC route....
we should change the rules of the oracle to "it never expires" we used to do that with the old MDL rules....
oracle is a great wonder this way, not too mention it makes a fourth happy wonder....and double effectiveness for temples is huge.....though HG is better...
perhaps make it expire at the eiffel tower stage? oracle is a wonder that should be used more..but there isn't any point at this stage in our games....
btw, glad we banned GW

War convinced me tonight... I think we should play with oracle not expiriring to some later point. It would be an easy change in the txt file. Even rah could do it. It's so easy, that the change takes a minute, and can be changed back just as easy.

Gee toss in that change, and rah rules will nearly have fully cloned the master diety league rules

Only thing your missing now, if i remember correctly is caravans reduced to 40 shields, diplomats costs increased to 60? shields and courthouses cost reduced by 50%. Lighthouse went to computers(?) and pyramids expired with refrigeration. Oracle never expires. Oh and there was a trade ship.. 0 attack so you could move it around in rep/dem... I haven't played a MDL game in years but i think that was all the changes not already in "rah rules" ..
