NO, didn't change it on yours. You can do that yourself, using the instructions above. AND don't forget, don't tell anybody.

Cripes, guys. altering WoW expiration is probably the second thing I toyed with, right after messing with movement values. I make all the ancient and renaissance WoWs expire, and I try to even out the expiration timing for ancients to the early industrial, and the renaissance to the early modern. For this I treat Leo's as renaissance and Shake's as industrial (basically no change).
Try that one on for size.

What's your point? We have resisted modifying rules.txt for a long time. I don't plan on making it a habit. We've wanted to minimize what we have to explain to new players, and not change the game so much that new players coming in will feel they are at a disadvantage. Oracle was useless and it was built in only 1 in 50 games, usually by accident.
Not planning on anymore changes for now.

i'd attach the altered version of the rah rules.txt in the original post, but i can't edit in an attachment to a post that didn't originally have an attachment

Considering that we only changed 3 characters in the original, that shouldn't be a problem.

Rah said, "What's your point?"
The point is strategy. If Orcale was useless because it expired far too soon maybe the all-favored race-to-get-them wonders are too powerful. Making Pyramids, Cope's, Mike's, and Mag's expire changes the strategy involved in deciding to build them.
Many MP games don't last into the modern age and making them expire at that point won't effect those games. Then again most of the modern wonders never get built at all in MP games for that same reason. But you couldn't count on that in ignoring the altered expiration timing.

For a game last week someone asked me where the thread was, (right after he asked "what the F*** are RAH rules" ) so I figure I'd keep it on the first page in terms of last 10 days.

Well, the guy really sucked, so that might not be a bad Idea. (unless of course it was one of Eyes DLs)
Maybe that's the secret. Start using different names. If you lose, you can just stop using that handle. If you win, keep using it. (or just announce who you really are). I bet I could go undefeated using a stratagy like that.

CW, a rules clarification. Since someone asked about it Saturday night..
NO city bribe.
If the barbs take a city, you OR anyone else may bribe it.
BUT, If someone drops out of the game and the AI takes over, and bribes one of your cities. Only the person that owned the city may bribe it back, since it normally shouldn't have been bribed in the first place.
AND others should refrain from conquering the city until the original players has taken back control.
Thank you.
This is open for discussion, but it will have to be a good arguement and supported my quite a few people.

Nothing wrong with the above, especially since that's the way we have been playing it.
An update would end any confusion.

i thought that was a no brainer. good thing you codify a set of rules. even if people dont like all of your rules they can say "blah blah blah, everything else RAH's rules"
Did I read this wrong, or did someone have a problem with a diplo escort?

Atawa asked about it, and I realized that it wasn't specificaly stated. Even though you're right, and we all assumed it. So I guess it has to be listed. Better safe then sorry.

I asked about it so I could prepare my defence accordingly.
Thought it would be allowed but being an obvious bug in the game I checked just to make sure.

Hehe, when is a bug not a bug..............when it's a feature of course!
I always thought diplo-guiding was intended. Probe guiding worked exactly the same way in SMAC.

I personally think it wasn't intended, but no one has really ever had a problem with it. I like it. When we are dealing with a rules set, it's very important that they are as well defined as possible.

I always thought it was intended that spies/diplos could ignor ZOC , I do not believe they intended an army of tanks been led past a ZOC by 1 diplo.
