"Resource View" Idea
Wouldn't it be lovely if Firaxis provided an option we could turn on that puts a bold red circle or some such around each resource on the map? (Maybe set it so it can highlight strategic resources, luxury resources, or both, or even have a way to target only one specific resource.) I'd absolutely love such a feature because it's so easy to miss resources looking for the little images embedded in the terrain. And the programming for such a feature should be pretty simple.

You can't count on Firaxis for such things
But you CAN count on the Civ community

Innocence designed (mandatory IMO) resource tage which are available here.

Yes, there's a number of people who have created more visible resources. Just go to the Files area and look around. There's some over at Civ Fanatics as well. Or if you feel artistic, you can do it yourself, just fiddle with the resources.pcx file in your Art folder.

Shift-M or something like that wipes the map so you can see the resources.

But isn't it more fun to have to search carefully for the resources?
I mean, after all, Uranium in real life isn't just lying on the ground waiting to be picked up...

Yes, the resources are much easier to see with some of fan-based icons.

But I still find myself wishing it worked similar to the military advisor's screen -- you hover over a unit, and it puts a crosshair on the map where he is. Of even if you hover over the resource in the Domestic Advisor screen and in the rollover help box, it says which city it is in.

Not a huge deal, certainly, but I would much rather spend my time finishing up the game and starting another than hunting for elusive resources.

You can do that now, provided you have a road to the resource. All you have to do is roll your cursor over a resource in the Trade Advisor screen, and it will tell you where it is.

Oh. *Blushes.* Thanks for the info. I have only been able to build the Ironworks once out of probably 40 or so games. Odd I hadn't noticed that the trade advisor worked the same. Earned my nick, didn't I?
