Are they going to release a new editor?
Is Firaxis going to release a new editor? The one they have right now sucks so much.. I can't believe they even put it in cause it sucks so much. I really wanna play scenarios for Civ 3 but no one seems to be making them, apparently because it's so difficult with the editor that comes with the game. Plz help!

Perhaps, but we're not sure when or how much they'll charge for it.

I think the icon for it looks pretty tho.

Maybe they didn't mean to put it in... maybe it just slipped in.

I really wanna play scenarios for Civ 3 but no one seems to be making them, apparently because it's so difficult

... or completely impossible.

Plz help!

Hang on! I'll be right there.

Apparently, it's their main concern in the patches, and it's their main concern in the coming one.

Depends what you're demanding from it... It currently only edits maps and rules, and except some big lacks (civlization-specific starting positions), it does this fairly well. But it is not hard to make scenarios, it is impossible : you can't place and edit a city on the map, same for units, science the civs have etc.
They implemented it because it is much better to edit rules than the rules.txt of Civ2 : you can now change the function of buildings, add as many new governments as you want, change the abilities of units, terrain, workers etc. in some clicks. I truly thank Firaxis to have implemented this editor, so that I tweaked the game, and play happily with it.
Now, that doesn't mean the editor is perfect IMO : there still lack plenty of small things and some big ones. I think Firaxis (and esp. Mike Breitkreuz) are aware of this.

That has got to be one of the funniest things I've seen on this or any other board. ROFLMAO

I am not usually this pessimistic but ' when it comes to the editor...
Well, the editor now sucks so compleatly it is very unlikely we will ever see a decent editor for this game.

I appears that those guys at firaxis is having a hard time to even
implement slight improvements to the editor and the big question is that how much are the willing to spend time on improving the editor? I mean, REALLY improving it - not just making slight adjustments.

I have never seen the source code for the game/editor but it may
even be that most of the imporvements we would like to see cannot practically be fixed becouse that would require to much
tweaking with the source code and going to deep into that path would require to re-write the entire game.

Well, dunno....according to statistics I will live for 55 more years.
Maybe that is enough to experience a decent civ 3 editor

CORRECTION:

Accroding to statistics I will live for 52 more years,
NOT 55 as I stated earlier... did not remember it correctly
