Civ II - A previously unnoticed bug.
Apologies if this is very old news, but could anyone shed any light on the following bug?
I have installed Civ II on a Win98 system, having run it prevously under Win 3.1. I now find that there are occasions when I reload a saved gameand the game date resets to an earlier date.
Example: I recently saved a game in 190 A.D. When I reloaded the game, It relaoded as expected, except that the game date had reset to 1600 BC!
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I don't think so, as I've no idea what "revert" is, in this context. Please explain.

Never heard of that one. Are you really sure you aren't simply loading the wrong savegame or something.
Do you by any chance resave with the same filename?
Anyway, have you installed the version 2.42 patch ? Maybe that'll solve it.

Mercator - Thanks for the patch.
The problem is mentioned in the included text file, so this should be the answer.
" * At some difficulty levels (for example, Prince), users were
occasionally experiencing weird time-shifts (such as from A.D. 1
back to 1920 B.C.). This problem should no longer occur.

it´s possible to win the game even earlier,
one guy once told me that he made a map where all the terrain were forests,
he started to play and when the ai say that he couldn´t build any city he just won the game
I´m not sure if it´s true or not, but i think it was discused here a while ago

Whenever you want Marquis. It can easily be made with a premade map where you play purple and are connected via rivers to huts and to other tribes who will found their cities before you and then be left unprotected.
It wouldn't be much fun, though
