maximum shield production...
what is the best way to get a lot of shields? i was once trying to get the theory of evolution (gotta love free techs), but the french city of lyons was the only contender...even though i sabotaged their production (after many tries and reloadings, i might add) and even though they had no shields, after i investigated the city it said 16 turns until completion! i looked at their shield production bar and it said 44 per turn! how did they do that...

hunter um to be honest either you are fairly new (my guess) or build nothing. 120+shields per round in the modern age is not difficult. average city working all squares. assume all squares railed, and half are hills that are mined, build a factory, a decent powerplant (nucleur/solar/hydro) and that should put you in the neighborhood of 90-100 shields per turn. if city area is all grassland or desert shield production will be lower but 44 really is nothing in the modern age.

Ironworks is also a beautiful thing. I was getting 150+ shields/turn out of one of my cities a few games back.

Note the mines in all the hill and mountain tiles. Note the RR in all tiles. This city has the Iron Works along with Factory and HydroPlant.

Not to be a critic, but it's also cool if you convert it to jpg format. That way it automatically appears on the screen instead of us having to click on it.
