1 Russian division on the northern border and one French division on the Italian front was destroyed...
That was it.

We will need to start over. We can either play with the 3 of us, or we can start a new thread and try to sucker in some more players. What say you?

I'll throw in the Russian turn soon, and then at least we can play out a round before someone fills in for the Italians. I already got Soundwave's password.

That'd be fun, but wouldn't I kind of have a conflict of interest? I suppose I can just control myself and correctly play two civs that are enemies of one another without wrecking one, but a sub would be easier than having to worry about that. I guess I'll do Italy if no one offers to play them between now and their next turn.

Oh, ok. I knew that, but I thought maybe they might not be in this scenario, since Italy was in the Triple Alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary at the eve of WWI, and then they aligned themselves with the Allies. I guess I should have just read the thread more carefully. I guess I can do both, since they are in consecutive order.

Wow, I just downloaded the update to play my turn and it was great! When I first joined I was reluctant because I didn't particularly care for Second Reich, but this is great in all arenas. Congrats.
Not many changes in my turn, just continuing industrialization and refortifying units for martial law that soundwave apparently shot out causing disorder. Also tried to gift units to Rumania's defenseless cities, but apparently negotiations are off in this scenario. I guess no allied techs are coming my way then either.
BTW, I looked at the 1917 and 1918 events files and saw as I expected a whole lot of red soldiers CREATEUNIT's, and I see that they are as powerful as artillery and damn near indestructible on defense, but I still wonder exactly how this goes down. In general, what happens to Russia in the revolution in this scenario? For that matter, is there any way to eventually win the civil war or is it ingrained that Russia gets taken out of the war for good?

well, you have to fortify up major and most important cities and try to hold out. I'll play my turn in a few hours.

Doesn't seem like I should bother. One red soldier unit can destroy three to five fortified machine gun units in one turn before losing movement value, not to mention that they can attack further in the next turn and later when they can move again. Meanwhile, you can't destroy the red soldiers inbetween their turns even with railroad guns!
If this isn't a balancing mistake and what you want I'm totally fine with that, and I'll just do my best to kill a lot of Germans before my certain doom, but I thought I'd let you know. Mathematically the artillery should destroy them, but I think the problem is the 7 red soldiers hit points and the 1 for artillery. If it is a mistake as I hope it is for my sake, we could just throw in a new rules file anytime before 1917. If I were making the scenario, I would just have red soldiers that were more like the imperial guard and simply accompanying them with artillery.

Thanks for the compliments.
Concerning the Red Soldiers, its supposed to be like that. The way I tried to balance the scenario was make Russia significant early in the late but have its influence diminish in the latter part, with Italy becoming more significant as time goes on. This makes it convienent for someone to control both nations.
Russia will be screwed in 1917. Theres no stopping it, at least theres not supposed to. I doubt the game will last that long anyhow. Russia loses their happy wonders in 1917 to symbolize unrest and the invincible Red Soldiers are supposed to be my way of taking Russia out of WW1 due to the Revolution, since I can't manipulate treatiest through the events. But don't worry, you'll still have Italy (probably). I'm just trying to be historical. Also, Germany experiences similar problems. They lose their production wonders in 1917 to simulate the strain on their economy the allied blockade caused. I'm not trying to tilt the scales either way here, I'm just trying to keep the game as balanced and historically accurate as possible under civ2's limits. If you any better suggestions, let me know.

Oh, I have no problem with it, I'm just making sure it was intended. I think getting Russia out in 1917 is the only thing to do.
