Music in Civ3
My thoughts are along the lines of this:
- A dynamic music system that plays differnt tunes depending on what you're doing with your empire e.g:
- About to go to war? Epic war like music starts up
- In the middle of a depression/slump etc...sad music
- Going through a period of celebrations? Happy, upbeat music
- Period of enlightment? Well, 'enlighting/spiritous' music.
In my opinion, I think this would add greatly to the game, and enhance the emotional experience. I don't know how it was for other people playing Civ2, but it was an emotional experience for me!!! I was deeply attached to every empire I built.
Anyway, just my thoughts. What do other people think?

Well, that is quite a nice idea. I'd rather go for MP3s that are playing in the background from a self-compiled playlist though.
Listening to Hypocrisy and Chilsren Of Bodom while in war just rocks

I agree with this 100%. Music should definately be consistent with events and actions in your empire.

I don't want that premade music though... I'd really prefer the capacity of playing the music that is preferred by the player instead of the same tunes over and over again until you get bored...

Yeah, I know what you mean Chaos Warrior.
The best solution would be in terms of options.
I think, whether the soundtrack for the game is dynamic or not, will be able to be turned off..and you'll probably be able to have Winamp running in the background.
