MoO2 is what brought me into TBS gaming in the first place. Since then, I've played CivII, TOT, SMAC, and CivIII, but I've always gone back every now and then for a game of MoO2.
Heck, I'm starting to feel the 'itch' now...

Cut the guy some slack.
Oh, and Kamrat... make sure you play 1.31. Otherwise there's no initiative.

Hum Test Of Time, the Civ2 replacement? I loved it. You could play the original one and it had all of the addons, which did not always work for me, and the new graphics versions. I still use it. I will be trying it in XP soon. I just got it up and Moo now gives me sound again, hot dog.

My only complaint about TOT was that they dropped wonder movies and the council (shade of Civ III, anyone?). It was stable, wonderfully detailed and the multimaps were a fantastic idea that should have been carried forward in Civ III. I don't design scenarios, but I've been told that the scripting possibilities really outshone Civ II and MPGold. I played around with unit design, and TOT was significantly better than Civ II in that aspect.

The thing is if you did not like it , you could use the original sytle. To me, it should have been supported as people are often asking for remakes and here we got one. How good would it be if say they reissued Moo with a mode to play as is and a mode to play with updated graphics and sound. I mean same pictures, just done using best 2d. Correct a few of the known bugs and make it use directx and other windows interrfaces so it works in current OS natively. I would not mind one for Moo2, but at least it is a windows product. No real changes, that is for Moo3 or Moo4.

I've thought similar thoughts 'bout MOM a lot of times, vmxa.

vmxa1,
[Why is your handle a random jumble of characters? ]
I rather they redo MoO. Unfortunately there probably is no money in it, and Infogrames won't release the source, being the bunch of arsewipes they are.

It is not a jumble, it stands for Virtual Machine eXtended Architecture. It is a main frame operating system that I used to teach.

Don't remind me. I could have used BOS for my handle, which is Basic Operating System. It dates back to the first IBM 360 machines from the 60's., at least VM is from the 70's. I orked on both types when they were new. Sad huh.

Yeah, I bet you had to walk to school in snow up to your ears, two miles, uphill both ways too!

ah, reminds me of my first computer gaming experience. Playing text only blackjack on a mainframe in 1971. So, your not that old Vmxa1!
R:PM
PS Sorry we are way off topic.
Back on topic....I am playing this #$@^&%^ game every day now, and still can't get enough. What is up with that?

I think the board traffic is low enough that you can get off topic.
Just for the record I grew up in Mich, so I did walk to school in the snow, but not more than 3/4 mile.
I play startrek on main frames then too, in fact I wrote a pinochle game for a Navy computer in 1966, using binary coded octal.
I sometimes get enough of it (Moo) for awhile, but I did play Moo2 last night and Moo the night before to see if they would fail on my XP Pro setup. I have to install and try out all of my software so I can not linger on one game too long right now, especially now that AoW2 is gold. Too bad Moo3 did not make its date (5/31).

I know I will play some AoW2 - I was a beta tester. It's a really nice game. Really nice.
But the RMG didn't make it in, lowering its appeal to me consderably, unfortunately. I don't expect it to last like MOM or MOO did.
Still, if they sell enough, a RMG is first in the pipeline of expansion stuff to be added, so but it if you can, guys.

Vmxa1,
Wow mainframe Star Trek...I have thought about that in eons. I remember playing that on the mainframe remote dumb terminal (Sigma 7) in HS in '78 and '79. My teacher used to get really pissed at me cuz I would use up all the paper (rolled yellow) since there was no monitor.

They did not make an add-on for AoW, which was a shame, the web had lots of maps though.
I really enjoyed it.
Ah, the wonderful green monitor, sure do not miss them. When I first saw the 4 color screens, I thought it was heaven. I figured out how to insert controller commands in my text msg and send colored msgs wih highlights.

I can't just yet, beyond what's official. Signed an NDA and all of that. But you can choose you own sposts to settle, for straters, which changes the game dynamics completely.
Plenty of other nifty changes as well.

Well it has gone gold, so I will have it soon, maybe next week. Actually, it is probably available at some of the pirate sites. I prefer to support the developers.

It's gonna be out Real Soon Now, yes, so you can see for yourself. I rather like it, but the lack of a RMG kills some of the appeal for me.

I remember the greens and the ambers. I do not remember the 4 color. What do you mean by 4 color (RGB?)
