No... Civ3 CAN'T have the depth that EU has, unless you want a single game of Civ3 to last months, hours being played everyday .

EU and Civ3
A nnumber of us civers have been getting into Europa Universalis over the past week and as had been alluded to, there are examples to be drawn from EU that applies to Civ3.

For instance, I remember when the first animated gifs were displayed at the firaxis site, there was a discussion on how the (optional) animated units would work in a TBS like Civ3. Just take a look at EU and when you have it paused (the equivalent of taking your turn), you see the animated units just looping through its motions. And when the move into a "square" that initiates combat, it just loops through it's combat animations.

I think more than that is perhaps the Real-Time model that could work for Civ3...because EU does play like a Turn-Based game where most of the work takes place under Pause. (But we've discussed that to death earlier.)

I'm sure there are many more similarities and examples (diplomacy, trading, etc.); it's just that when I play EU, I'm thinking I'm playing a more advanced form of Civ.

Europe Universalis - I don't actually have the game, nor ever played it, but from the looks of it, it seems like it would be alot like Risk II PC game, only a lot more in-depth and realistic.

Okay ... is there anyone out there who has played EU and does NOT like it? If so, please tell me why I shouldn't buy this game.

Why am I asking this? Because I read all the great reviews about it and get tempted to go out and buy it. The last thing I need to do right now is spend money on another game. Even worse, I'm in the middle of a semester which means I need to spend my time doing homework and not playing a game. ;-)

Right! No one will ask about your player ranking, when you'll be looking for a job. Go back to your school books NOW!

Back to the topic, any link to a Europa Universalis site?
