How many total cities do you like to have?
This is obviously dependent on map size and type.
I play Large with large continents mostly.
I target having 40-60 cities.

Must have 100
I personally punish myself for my sins by playing on huge maps with hundreds of cites and units in the modern era without the forbbidian palace or courthouses.
I wish I was joking

Going for score, more is better.
Trying to finish a game in a reasonable period of time, less is more.

Shouldn't that depend on the map size? Anyway, I prefer now large and huge maps and target to get at least 60-100. Later in the game may be more.

Can't vote
I wanted to vote but the option for "all the cities" was not there. This domination method of winning just isn't as good as taking over the whole world!

I want to have 512 cities. (I thought that that is the city limit.)

To many cities is to much trouble. 40 is a max for me now. I'm tired of huge maps where your start your turn and it takes forever to select everything you want to build in every city that finishies something.

I'm surprised at some of the high numbers being bandied around. If you're conquering the answer is most of them, and if you are launching/diplo victory you shouldn't go that far above the corruption threshold for the map size. I voted for 11-20, but sometimes it would be more like 21-30.

41-60. I usually prefer less, but by the time you finish mopping up some of the peskier AI's, you have to claim the land or leave it to the AI. Sometimes I get more, but only when I go for total conquest, and then only late inthe game, and half of them are on wealth so i don't have to deal with them.

i don't count mine, although a) i just love being the biggest colored mass on the mini map, b) you're right about the taking forever each turn, and c) more land, more resources, more cash...lol

I play normal maps and I chose 41-60. It depends on the map, of course, but basically I only stop when in danger of domination, and my cities are built with little overlap (1-2 squares maximum, with some special exceptions).
I have found that with an optimal forbidden palace placement, democracy, courthouses & police stations, I can run a pretty efficient empire - even though I'm 1 city away from domination.

A combination of YC4B4U and Beren's post is most like it. 511 of my cities, 1 AI.
I voted for "I am Aeson", took me a while to figure out though!

That's probably what the "imposters" were thinking. They glanced at the options and picked the bottom one, assuming it would be the banana option.
EDIT: I know it may be un-polyish, but I don't even like bananas!

OK, lot of cities = lot of corruption. But to have a city filled with corruption is still better than to have no city at all.

As many as I get my hands on!
Although lately I raze the captured city's and found my own ones on that spot! Prevents culture flipping.

I smell a conspiracy.
Aeson's clones just too coincidental with the upcoming Star Wars release.

Well, the more cities the better score. But I guess 30-40 are manageable for me.
