You could change the rules in the editor to your advantage.

Firaxis generally doesn't put cheats in it's games. Also, who needs cheats anyway. They are a waste of time.

The biggest cheat was $50 (not including tax) for an underdeveloped and flawed Civ III, plus $13 for the dopey "Strategy Guide".
But in the game if you rename a .sav file "multi.sav" you will be able to see the entire board AND change production of rival cities, and a few other things.

There is a trainer somewhere out on the net that'll give you extra gold, quick research, and the ability to rush build anytime on anything. Might be able to find it at avault.com, maybe not.
For what it's worth, the trainer makes the game boring after a short time. Takes the challenge out of it entirely. I used it initially to help me learn game concepts, but I ditched it once I got comfortable with how to win on my own.

Chieftan level is an excelent cheat.
All you have to do when you start a new game is stand up.
Step to the left.
Jump up
jump up
jump up
step to the left
squat down
stand up
step to the right
do two jumping jacks
step to left
sit down
Click on Chieftan level
If you can't beat that with a little practice no cheat is going to help you.

Open the editor.
Find the Warrior unit. Make it 100/100/100 A/D/M. Deselect all civs on the list of "available to" except the one you will play.
Save changes. Exit editor. Start Civ3.
If you lose, don't come crying to me.

Well he will have to improvise a bit. I can't tell him everthing then he wouldn't need to ask more questions.
What do you mean it was really because I don't know my left from right? Sure I do. My right hand works the mouse. I drive on the right side of the road. If I face south the east is on my right.
Actually I am semi-ambidrextrous. I don't know east from west either. You have no idea how many times I messed up maps in D&D. Whatever I am doing is right handed in my mind even when I actually using my left hand.

All cheats have been moved to the editor. But what about this: One opponent, Tiny map, Chieftain (play something like romans, persians or egyptians) Pangea.
Speed to tech with UU. Then sent all in to kill the civ. It'll reappear and kill it again. No problem... The score will really beat the crap out of all other scores.

You sure must be semi-ambidrextrous! Well, as long as you know whatīs up and down on the civ map, I donīt think you are in any real danger...

Up and down is no problem. Nor is north and south. The hard part was being sure to get that wrong.
I am right handed but when I was a long jumper I always took of on my right foot which is the opposite of most right handers. Some lefties do it backwards like that but not very many right handers. Caused problems with my jump shot in basketball because it makes me rotate.

If youīre rotating when playing basketball Ethelred, then you might do some nifty tricks?
Nah, just kidding, I donīt think that has very much to do with the topic anyway...

BOT, here is a 'cheat':
1. Having lots of cash and embassies, save your game.
2. Espionage/Investigate City with as many civs & cities as you have cash for to get a feel for what's going on with the other civs (and especially those competing Great Wonder builds).
3. Quit the game without saving.
