Pah! If you are constipated you take some laxative. If you can't sleep you take a valium. If your libido is screaming for attention you look up some porn. It's stimulation for relieving bodily functions, how can that be bad?
And don't come with social conventions and ethics because anyone with more than half a brain knows what reality is like and anyone with less than half a brain is in the modelling and/or porn industry.

{sarcasm}Curing ailments the way God intended: DRUGS!!!{/sarcasm}
The way you say it, porno is like a drug.
And now that I think about it, porno can't be as bad as some made it out to be (even myself before) as long as it is being looked up in moderation.
Its when it gets excessive that it can become a problem. Just like overdosing on drugs, excessive use of porno can be a problem (even if drugs can be fatal, while porno isn't)
Personally though, I'd rather use my imagination to relieve that kind of tension, though I still can't get over the fact that the woman with a perfect body that exists in my mind still remains faceless.

As for ethics, they are supposed to be what's right/wrong. But the only thing that is truly wrong is when someone tries to do something aimed at harming another, their reputation, or their finances, or doing something to them without their permission. Methinks there is sometimes a mix-up between ethics and morality. It is morality that dictates that porno is "unholy" and "work of the devil", not ethics, because porno really doesn't exist with the intent of harming anybody, especially if the person posing had made up their own mind to do it. The only way porno could be ethically wrong is if it is gained by filming or photographing a naked person, couple or couple having sex without gaining their permission. As long as the naked people or the couple in a sexual encounter gave the photographer/cameraman permission to photograph/film them, there really isn't any ethical problem at all.

Ah, you're probably right, women are just as bad. I read in Cosmo magazine that 1 in 3 women in Britain between the ages of 20 and 35 own and use a vibrator. Yuck. I think I'll be 19 forever, thank you, I don't like those odds !

yuck??
The women that get the most out of sex are oftentimes the ones who masturbate and know how to please themselves. The idea that a woman should be dependent completely on a man for pleasing her and has no power to please herself is such an old fashioned boring way of thinking IMO. There ARE sexually liberated women out there and thank god. They make much better lovers than the girls who think masturbating is yucky
Open that mind a bit Al. You might surprise yourself.

Yes, I have talked to female friends about masturbation, and one of them finds that it is much more effective. She says it is strange because men are really not the right design to cause maximum satisfaction whereas vibrators can be engineered to be so.
Perhaps us blokes just need another million years or so of evolution to get our bits into the right form

I think that in some circumstances properly done pornography is not bad for a relatively mature person. I have to be careful about what I publicly approve of though; a few years ago a physician in this state was sanctioned for recommending masturabation to a patient. There has been some anecdotal reports where masturbation became such an obsession that it interfered with normal function, i.e., the practioner came to prefer it to the real thing.
I have some questions for those of you have reported masturbation at an early age, i.e., 12 and under. What are your current ages, and are you now or have you been recently ( wiyhin a year) in a relationship? At what age did you first have a relationship? How many have you had?

Sanctioned for recommending masturbation eh? Thats ****ed up.
As nice as a little tug is once and awhile, I find it hard to believe anyone would actually prefer it

I wouldn't expect that preferring masturbation to the real thing would be especially uncommon. But still, how is that the doctors fault? You've got to get pleasure in life where you can

I don't know the details, but obviously the patient or a group of patients complained to the Board of Medicine, offered some evidence of harm, and then the Board determined that this was not an established, accepted form of therapy.

I don't read women's magazines, but I do have an idea on how superficial and faked those magazines can be.
I don't think you should rely on Cosmo for any information on society.

I can see the headlines...
MAN MASTURBATES SELF TO DEATH, PLAYBOY BLAMED
A middle aged man who's identity shall not be undisclosed was found ferret in one hand, Playboy magazine in the other dead at 1600 eastern time in his bedroom. His wife found the body and the doctor expeded the causes of death which showed that the man suffered from an overdose of excitement caused by excessive consumption of pornographic materials and was found to have masturbated himself to death. The wife was quick to blame Playboy and has stated that she will initiate legal action. "The death of my husband shall not go unpunished". Several other people reported similar deaths just after the announcement was made. Playboy spokesmen were "aghast and speechless". Several religious groups have cheered the death and have stated that "He who masturbateth shall be smitten by the Lord".

Patient With Heart Condition Dies of Heart Attack While Walking
Despite his doctors recommendation to walk everyday to strengthen his hears, James Smith died earlier today after he had a heart attack whilst taking his daily walk in the park with his dog Fritz. The wife was distraught and claimed that "the doctor decieved us, he surely knew it would take him to his grave". On a similar note, she has stated that she will be taking action. Several other patients have stated that they will stop dieting and several thyroxine defficient patients have announced that they will not be taking their medicine claiming that it is an "international medical conspiracy to poison their bodily fluids". Seven hundred B-52s were seen taking off after codeword R for Romeo was issued to them.
Hehehehe... Only in America.

Not really. I had sex too young and had a hard time making my boundless sexual drive work within the confines of a relationship. I dated a lot of other hyper-sexuals, but it's like living with an alchoholic when you have a drinking problem yourself. I finally started to move away from this problem by changing the way I selected my girlfriends, and while I can't say that I have everything figured out, I have been in a stable relationship for years now. It isn't as passionate as some I've been in, but it is refreshing to not have to constantly contend with tidal forces always tearing your relationship apart. You can fight or submit, but either way those forces would win.
