It's a pothead holiday. It's the equivelant of 666 for devil worshipers. All the potheads get together and go "huhuhuhuhuhhu its 420... huhuhuhhuhuhhh lets smoke pot".
It's ironic because in celebration of the holiday, they smoke pot, yet they also smoke pot every other day. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

It's the same for people who get drunk on St. Patty's day IMO. But yes, it is pointless.

Through the years? I can only see Strangelove's reply that equals my own knowledge, but there seems to be more than that. Anyway, it has been a pretty quiet Führergeburtstag

I'll bet a dollar to a donut that Harrison ends up with a half dozen kids someday.
Any takers?

It's not a "pothead" holiday in the same way that St. Patty's day isn't an "alcoholic" holiday. It's just a holiday of sorts.
I'm disappointed only a couple people knew about it. Everyone knows about it here.

or was it 26th? (birthday) nah that was Chernobyl
I don't know, will you? I'd razther celebrate May 8, the end of the war, that's a lot more sophisticated way of celebrating peace than celebrating the death of a maniac

Dude, I started a thread on "the feast of St. Conrad" or whatever, while I was high, and nobody understood it. This is the squarest forum ever.
I celebrated in style, smoking an ounce of weed with five or six of my closest friends.

The Ruby Ridge incident was on an April 19, I believe. For those who don't know about it, at Ruby Ridge Federal agents attempting to arrest a man suspected of some sort of gun violation (automatic weapons possesion I think) got involved in a battle that killed his teenaged son and his wife. The Waco Branch Davidian compound fir fiasco and the Oklahoma City bombing were on April 19. The Columbine High massacre was on April 20, which happens to be Hitler's birthday.

No one has told me straight yet ( Americans!), but from what I can gather it is either: 4:20 being the time (American) cops change beats - and thus you got time for a ; or 420 being a police call-out for something to do with a minor drug offence.

I think 420 is the police code (or whatever) for pot smoking. Ya know, like on Chips when they're on the walkie-talkies and the dispatcher says, "Ponch this is dispatch, we got a four one niner over on Melrose Place," or some such nonsense.

The 420 police code thing was a myth.
No one really knows where it comes from, but the most supported theory is some kids in the 60s in California would do it at 4:20 every day, and then they got older and just got together once a year to do it, on 4-20.
