I like it. It does seem a bit faster, too. Good Job.

And I thought, if you are one year a member of Apolyton you get the right to upload a costum avatar, anyway.

What's the actual stats of this server?
Pentium 4 what?
How much RAM?
What's the internet pipe?
What Linux?

Well, all that I can see without access to the server is Apache 1.3.19 (You should upgrade to 2.0, it's faster & more secure and came out this week, been in development for years...) on RedHat(?).

It's what RackShack installed, Asher (re: Apache)... it will suffice for now.
As for other system specifications, I will tell you that our dedicated server has 1GIG RAM.

Yeah, threads load damn fast now. I'm back on the default style, and, with cable, pages load in no more than 2-3 seconds.
Edit: the edit button fixed.

last summer I had pages loading in less than a second

By the way you might want to up date the numbers of comments in your annoncement in the about section. I guess -1 comments in this thread is obvious wrong.
|
I love the way the link points to the old forums as well
But this is great, I've been hoping 'Poly would get its own server for ages. BIG thanks to Markos and Dan, even if it did mean resorting to Texas

How does your ad hosting work? I thought Gamestats had a UGO contract and took care of all of it for you. Do you have a direct contract, now?

gamestats had half of our inventory, showing ugo ads. the other half was mainly covered by affiliate type(amazon, chips&bits, ebay, etc) ads (which now of course cover the entire inventory. pop-ups will be through a specialized ad network.

I found a problem - the quick reply had disappeared, so I opened this reply page to let people know...
Then discovered that it was beacuse I was logged out.

Should I go ahead and change the URL in my "favorite links" to this new location?

It'll take a day or two, but apolyton.net will point to the right place once your ISP updates their servers (should take 24 hours max)

apolyton.net takes me to the "Aristotle University of Thessaloniki" website.
To differentiate my post to the one above however, I'll add this:
http://64.246.32.51 also takes me to that same webpage.
