Mark (and Baggins) I posted a link to a specific thread (from a few days ago) on another site. I posted this link well before the move. Now when I click that link, it takes me to the old site location. (school and page to click through to new site...but that doesn't lead to the thread I want...just the overall site.)
Will this ever be fixed? I ask because I can't edit that link (on other board) and because people there lack context to understand about Poly and its move. Also I'm trying to direct people to a specific thread, not forums in general.
Just curious, not ahuge deal. (I'm not complaining.)

Seems to be OK now. DNS changes propagate unevenly and are subject to Time-to-Live and Expiry at their most rudementary level.
apolyton.net/forums is working for me now, but wasn't a while ago.
what this means is that your link as long as it is in the http://apolyton.net/forums notation and the same postid's are maintained, everything should be fine when DNS irons itself out. The ironic thing is people who haven't resolved the address before, will resolve to the right address *now* while you have to wait.

In a few days when all DNS-servers around the world have updated their IP lists it will work as normal.

Hmm... www.apolyton.com sends me to the School of Engineering, then redirects me to the fora.

Well, apolyton.net now takes me directly to the main page.
I'm assuming that the direct IP would also work... yep it does.

All of them are working for me now. I'm not sure what was wrong with www.apolyton.net this morning.

For some... it will just take a little more time. I can now use apoltyon.net addresses most of the time. But I will still get the random can't find message. It should be solved for everybody soon enough.

Heh heh. Ditto. I guess all those jokes about MarkG hosting Apolyton on his school computer aren't so funny anymore ...

All of the 10 URLs work again.
Only one problem, the hosted sites don't work yet in the "prefix" form (e.g. coc.apolyton.net doesn't work, apolyton.net/coc does). I guess that also has to do with the server change and will be resolved soon as well?
Strange, haven.apolyton.net is the only hosted site that does work.

Now it's slow!
I want the server back!
Disband the city and bring the settler back to Greece, to settle in my back yard, please.

If this persists for more than 24hrs, Axi, and you are not experiencing any noticable slowdowns on any other website you are currently browsing at the time, then conduct a traceroute (type "tracert apolyton.net" at an MS-DOS prompt). If after conducting this test you feel that the problem is at our end, feel free to send us a copy of the said report and we will investigate it.

To get the results into a text file (so you can copy-n-paste, or email the results), type:
tracert apolyton.net > trace.txt
at an MS-DOS prompt.

This is not abnormal. Connections across the world are supposed to be slow. Have a look at my numbers though...

Next time, put the Apolyton server in Japan. Then we'll talk about speed (grumble... grumble....)
Btw, hasnt YOUR administrative work slowed down now that you have to work with a server in the other side of the Atlantic?
