Stack Movement in 1.21 Tidbit
Not certain if this was mentioned or not. I recognized that stack movement is a bit different in 1.21. Instead of moving ALL units in a particular square, you now move only the unfortified units of a paricular type. Useful for letting some units heal while the others keep on moving.

Hope this helps...

And also useful if you want to leave, say one unit behind to garrison the city. Before I would have to pick a unit, move it outside, move the rest of the forces out, then move the original unit back in. And sometimes doing all of this, I would accidently leave cities unguarded with bad results. Now with the new patch, all it I do is fortify the unit to remain. Works quite nicely.

That's a good thing to know. I hadn't used stack movement in the past, mainly because I forgot what keys to use. I didn't even know there had been a problem.

While the change has it's advantages, it sure adds lots of clicking to the game. During the peacedul periods, I usually keep my offensive units fortified in stacks of 8-10 units. And now, everytime I want them all to move the transport, I need to wake them one by one.

eli,

that is the downside to the change. Do you shift-right click the units? I found that while it does take a bit longer, it works out ok.

Why shift? I right click and wake one unit, then right click again and wake another until they're all awake.

Does shift+right click wakes them all?

if you hit shift, then it keeps the text window open, so you can just hit right click over all of the names of the units in the stack, instead of clicking back on the unit to bring up that window

yeah, it is something that is easily overlooked, and helps speed things up when you have tons of units.

also, once you hold shift, it doesn't matter which mouse button you hit, right or left.

Yes. Especially if you are asleep at the wheel and move your units and leave the city empty. Can be very embarrassing.

yes, very embarrasing when you lose cities you just captured because you are in too much of a hurry to make sure its garrisoned.

I agree it does add to the clicking. I would like to see a command that would wake all units of a particular type. Like when you are suddenly invaded and want to bring all your tanks out to defend from the inavaders. You could click on one tank, and then click wake all, and all of your tanks are awaken. You could then easily fortify the ones you want to leave where they are.
