what ever happened to the tail end of it... surely raing / abandoing a city could use it...

Yeah, if we raze a city (not abandon) there should be graphics/audio. A picture of the city burning to the ground. Screams of women and children..."help"..."why?"..."my baby"...general crying and anguish. Maybe the sound of women being raped by our troops before the city burns - probably not PC though, just a pipe dream.

I think that Firaxis chose to depict city ruins only in the city view (aerial view). I never saw it, though, being a builder as I am. But I think others have seen it.
