Setting up IP Games XXXVI
Well, the old thread had 150 posts and there looked like there was a natural lull, so I guess it's time for the 36th addition of the longest running thread at Apolyton.
Well, tomorrow is FRIDAY. Barono is flying in from LA to visit Ming and I, (ok ok, he's more interested in catching the Dodger vs Cubs game at Wrigley, which I am happy to accomodate) So all of us will be at Wrigley tomorrow.
The Friday game starts at 2:20 central. Which means we will probably be running a little late for any Friday evening game. Shouldn't be late by more than a few minutes, but please don't leave me out.
Rich.
Ming, Ok to close version 35

Wish I was available gentlemen. My new 17.4 inch flat screen is coming soon. My old monitor crapped out about 6 months ago and I've been playing with an old 15 inch monitor. My eyesight is getting bad in my old age. Does Civ look better in flat screen?
I had to save up and see what the IRS was gonna do to me. So now there are funds available to buy the new monitor and new video card.
Civ3 has not worked with my old video card. I emailed the help center twice, after lengthy explanations twice, they gave me the same fix twice, and failed to fix the problem twice. My old video card was only 8 meg, I hope this new 16 meg video card will do the trick. But since I've played Civ3 at my brother-in-law's, I don't believe I'll spend much time on it.
Long ramble but hope I'll have some time in a few weeks when the video board is up and the wife is out for the weekend earning money to fund my bad habits. Ain't life grand.
Seems like a few more players out there. That is excellent

Hey War what happened to you? Did you not feed the gerbils that run ur computer? LOL
Hmmmm we waited then played on figuring you would join in :-( I played so stupid maybe it was best you didn't come back lol, so I conceded to the power of Rah and the barbs, although even as AI your horde gave me quite the war.

Well... so much for a Saturday nite game... The "folk dancing" performance we went to lasted WAY TOO long, and then we just "had" to go out for a congratulations dinner... Maybe we shouldn't have ordered that 5th bottle of wine...
I hope you guys had a great game

Yeah, I felt bad for wiz. He kept icqing me during the early game asking when you would be home. I assumed it wouldn't run that late. His frustrations started to show after a few hours.

Well FF, I had "fun" with your Civ last night. But one question.
What the heck were you building marketplaces for when you only had 5 cities, and plenty of room to still expand...

Expansion... Rah told me you would complain about that.
You forgot the 3 settlers that were going to give me 8 cities!
Plus, I am trying to get a jump on trade!
And the wicked ferrets were lurking about in the southern reaches, so I thought I could push my tech to Mono, and THEN get a few more cities.
Sounds good on paper anyway .
Thanks for taking over.

Hmmmm... I guess you didn't want to mention that you were going to lose one of those 5 cities to barbs Fortunately, it was cheap to buy back.
Two of the settlers were heading into noman's land, with no good available land that I could see... and with no units protecting them. One died

Fine and good... but you need a FEW more cities to do that right.
It was good you had trade, I used caravans to build HG

With the lack of trade around the few cities you had, you would NEVER have gotten to Mono before the end of the night. But after I cranked out a bunch of settlers, your sciences started coming a little quicker. Plus, I got a bunch of cities down there anyway... if I had been slower... it would have been an expensive battle with him.
But I had fun.
Attached is a save of the final turn.

I see what you are saying, but I was hoping that with 8-10 core cities I could get on track.
The barbs were bad news, and the setts were primarily road builders until they could find a soft place to land.
I have a nasty habit of sending out setts without protection, but I have to try and cut corners where I can.
Oh well, if the save game name is any indication, I guess it was pretty bad .
But at least I was proud of it *sniff*.

Yes it was an interesting game considering I wandered for 600 years only to have the whale next to my cap already being used.
So I decided to do a little borg eradication. THAT WHALE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MINE. It was by the end of the game
Thanks for subbing Ming.
Thanks for staying up a little later than you wanted to Baron O
FF, I told you he'd say that.
Epik, more units if you're going to go to war.
RAH

Well It's FRIDAY.
I'll be at ming's at the normal time.
But there is a chance that I'm sneaking out to play golf this afternoon but if it screws up my timing, it won't be by much.
Muppets or not, I just want to play.
