Or I could do something like this...
I don't think it looks that great though.
If Orange really wants it, I think I could make a union jack helmet and change the rest of the suite into plain red (where the dark blue is) and white (where the light blue is)... or I could do different colours. (maybe leave the feet and hands blue, the body white, and the underpants red?)

What limits do avatars have, in terms of size?
I ask because despite being a couple hundred posts off being able to use one, I am already starting to plan on it.

I read that somewhere else on this thread but couldn't find it. I think Skanky Burns mentioned it.

OK, thanks.
Now I know how much I need to crop my pics before I can get them to the right size, and still keep them recognisable.

Thanks! I really like the second one. I'm just afraid when downsized you won't be able to tell what it is.

I guess it is a cruelty to dispell the happy delusions of youth, but, IW, there is no such thing as Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy, or a Union Jack.
A Jack is a flag flown at the Jackstaff - and the national flag is never flown at the jackstaff and can therefore never be referred to as a jack.

Ah ha! I heard that before, but it had escaped me.
why is the national flag never flown at the jackstaff? What is?

/me ponders the stupidity of dictionary.com.

Chamber's is not much better - defining jackstaff as the staff at which a jack(flag) is flown
A jack, however, is defined as a small flag (smaller than an ensign) flown at the bow of a vessel to indicate it's nationality.
So - why can't a small Union Flag be flown as a jack
Chamber's continues to describe 'Union Jack' as a misnomer for 'Union Flag' - the plot thickens.
Certainly I recall being taught (back in the late paleolithic when I was young) that only the ignorant hoi poloi would refer to a Union Jack and we superior (public school) people should know better --- yeah it was really like that then - you youngsters did not miss much in post-war Britain.
Any real mariners out there able to shed some light on this???
