WTF? I canīt win??
Iīm playing at chieftan level ( to learn the game) and Iīm number 1 on all posts in the demographics screen. I have twice the score of the next civ. I practically rule the earth!
But still, when I retire I get the "youīve suffered an embarrassing defeat" WTFīs up with that? Does the game use some kind of fixed table to decide if yor winning or not?
It wasnīt this impossible to get a good score in Civ2 or SMAC IIRC.
I love the game, and Iīm very annoyed about this

You retired... thats practically the equivalent of quitting... Plus scores on Cheftain level aren't that high anyway.

Well, you can win: - by being elected UN's secretary: someone must build the UN wonder and claim for a vote; that is the diplomatic victory;
- by culture domination: either you reach 100 000 culture points for your whole civilization or 20 000 for one city;
- by space race: the first one who builds a space ship wins;
- by conquest like in other civ games;
- by domination; I do not know the details of such a victory;
- by having the first score when the game ends in 2050.
If you retire before getting a 'You win' message... you simply lose; the game considers you abandon.

If you haven't started a new game yet, open up the last Autosave and don't retire. The autosave is the status at the beginning of the turn.

I still think it is silly that you get a message that you suffered an embarrassing defeat. What is even more shocking is the next screen in which the other players make fun of you, even though some of them were almost wiped out by you!
It is probably a plot to keep you playing and ruin your life. Because then you want to teach those ###holes a lesson they won't forget and completely wipe them out!

I agree, I think the AI taunts you and teases you just to get you all PO'ed.

Damn! I hate getting made fun of by the computer! It ruins my whole day. Why did Firaxis do this to us. Do they think we don't have feelings?

I think it should be more like Civ II, if you actually suck, you get told so, if you did well, you are praised.
