Firaxis: Infinite Range and Helicopters...How to?
I cannot seem to get the Infinite Range ability to work for helicopters transporting foot soldiers?
Is this ability solely for bombarding units? OR is there a way to enable this for the helicopter?
Many thanks

I've been trying to find a way to get stealth bombers to have infinate range. However, the infinate range options seems to only work for ICBMs.
My advice is just get the area of operations setting to 8, which is the largest value available until someone finds a work around or Firaxis allows Air units to have infinate range.
If someone has, someone post it, please.

Infinate range for helicopters? Not exactly realistic as that would require an awful lot of inflight refueling. The range should be increased however (8 max for anything is rediculous) and they need to work off of carriers. (duh)

Yeah, but if you're planning a mod with units capable of orbital insertion this is a snag.

what if you changed the range to -1 or something like 0xFF in the bic file?
that's how i got unlimited armies, maybe you can get unlimited range that way?

What do you mean by this exactly?
Carver, i'd rather have the range increased, but as such the closest to that was the infinite range ability. Until there is a way to increase the range of aircraft beyond 8, i'll just have to use the infinite range option (assuming i can find a way...!?).

you would have to get a hex editor and look in the civ creation forum to see what field contains the range for a unit, and then change it to FF.
I would try it for you, but i don't have civ3 installed right now.
