My girlfriend's kitten is very very sick
My girlfriend picked up little 'Klaus' at the animal shelter last week. He was just so cute and friendly. He'd cuddle with my g/f and always want to stay with his mommy. He'd cry when she had to put him in the bathroom for the night (because he was too little to sleep in bed with her).
But he'd always be sleeping and hardly eat. So today, he just wasn't moving much at all. So, she took him to the vet, and the vet commented on how skinny and little he was. He said that Klaus has pnumonia and his glucose is very low. So they have him all covered up and with a glucose IV. But the chances for little Klausy living are poor, it seems. They can't give him anti-biotics because he is too tiny.
My g/f is very sad and broken up. For the last half week Klaus was so playful and friendly and loved her.
I hope that little Klausy pulls though. Poor kitty . It would just kill my g/f if he died and I really don't want to see that happen.

Damn, sorry to hear this man. I love kitties myself, and I am infact heartbroken too that the cat I rescued a little while ago has indeed ran away.
Best of luck to the Klausenheimer, and to your girl too.

Sorry to hear that Imran, but there still is a chance (even if it's a small one) that Klaus will pull through...
Concerning the kitten being too small to sleep with you...my cats have always slept with me - even when they were 8 weeks old. I know your girl friend is probably worried about rolling over in her sleep and hurting the kitten, but it has never happened with me. Hopefully Klaus will get better.

Every animal I've had has either died an unnatural death or dissappeared. These include:
* Tortoise - Dissappeared. Spent some time in my mum's garden before running off entirely.
* Cats - one died of cancer, two were eaten by dogs.
* Dog - Dissappeared.
* Rabbit - died within two days.
* Set of African Lovebirds - We were living next to a large breadfruit tree, and in that tree there used to sit lots of wild Lovebirds, eating the seeds. So we gave seeds to our Lovebirds, that they wolfed down with great pleasure. We kept feeding them, and after a while they got really fat and then dropped dead one by one.

Imran....I'm sorry as well...it's so easy to get attached to them....
-=Vel=-
(PS: thought - some vet places have animals that are permanant residents there...if he's that young, perhaps there's a mamma cat at the vet's who's recently had kittens and is still nursing. Might take a couple days for him to be accepted by her, BUT....her milk would have antibodies.....an outside shot, but I thought I'd mention it)

Imran - have you masturbated recently? Haven't you killed enough kittens already?
Eh, sorry, trying to find the humour in it all. Good luck to it

That's really a shame. I love cats, especially orange ones like in FMK's picture. I hope Klaus makes it.
One lesson to take from this: keep a close eye on the health of any animal you've just adopted, especially a baby animal, for the first week or two. It's easy for them to pick up a disease from even the best of shelters. Just like with humans, early detection and treatment gives the best chance of a cure. Most shelters will work with you if you got a sick animal from them; their own vet will treat it at their expense. Or you can give it back to them and get another before your attachment reaches the heartbreak stage. That's what happened the last time we adopted a kitten.
And Wittlich is right--a kitten is never too little to sleep in your bed! (And unlike some dogs, they never get too big.)

Well, they are pumping liquids and glucose into him. He's all dehydrated. Hopefully the little guy will pull through when he is hydrated.

Well, Klaus is even younger than that. And the bed is so high off the ground, that Klaus wasn't able to get off when he had to go. She didn't want him to pee in the bed. That's the reason Klaus didn't sleep in the bed.
And she said if Klaus dies she doesn't want another kitty. It would just be too hard.
Oh, and Klaus is cream colored, with brown ears, and a black striped tail, just if y'all wanted to know.

Naw... Klaus was an orphan who the shelter found (and they went to the vet at the shelter as well).

Well bud, keep it in mind....if you know anybody who's got a cat that recently had kittens, or if you could find such a person nearby on the 'net, it just might be the thing that tips the scales.
Good luck to you both, and to young Klaus.
(hopeful smile)

Sad to hear Imran.
Suffering is never good to hear about, but don't right Klaus off yet. Life can be very determined.

Hope little Klaus gets better soon.
Contacting the shelter where you got him is a good idea.
They should have given you/your g/f a clean bill of health on the kitty...and should take him back if he's sick.
I know how getting attached to them can be.
We'll all be thinking about Little Kitty Klaus.

Frankly, I loathe cats and all they stand for.
But, for your sake, and your lady friend's, I hope the little demon pulls through. I've got my fingers crossed for ya.

Thanks, you are a classy guy.
And put it this way, he was pulled off the streets and put into a home. Better to not have more cats on the streets if you don't like them, right?

My family cat of 19 years died last year. Still miss her, the obnoxious little b*tch.
Hope your kitty pulls through. Up with cats. Anyone who doesn't like cats has something wrong with them.

Actually, the only problems I've had with cats are the ones in homes; the ones out on the streets generally leave me the hell alone. But I digress... I'm sure the vets will do everything in their power to save the little fella. My finacee is thinking about vet school--to say they're a dedicated lot is quite an understatement.
