I wonder if she will. She has been hit kinda hard by it, and I'm not sure if she'll get a new one.

Pleeeeeease: Get over it!
A cat died...
|
Insensitve remark. She may have only had the cat for a week, but humans tend to quickly fall for their pets. Some people also tend to become more emotionally attached to their animals than they do to other people.
This is human nature. To find fault in that is the same as you passing judgement on them. I don't think you are worthy of that task. Nor is anyone else for that matter.
And you say you would show compassion to people if it were their father, but not for a pet that was owned only for one week... well some people just want to express their compassion to someone that has a loved one whom is heart broken. Doesn't seem over the top to me.
People express themselves in different ways , all the time. If you did not like what you were reading, then you should have moved on... instead of insulting people and throwing some salt on a small wound for a member of this site.
Personally, however people wish to express condolences to others and for whatever reasons they are for... is their bussiness and doesn't need to be ridiculed.
I hope it never happens to you or to someone close to you. Losing pets, however short or long periods of time you may have them.... s u c k s.
Imran... sorry for your G/F. In time she will get over it and fall for another one. Never fails. I know from experience with cats.
We had 3, 2 lived to be 18 and one was 12. They are all gone... I had to take all 3 to the vet... at different times of course... to be put to sleep. Drag.
But we have 4 new ones now...One is 3, two are 2 and one is 1. All saved from somewhere or another. One , off the street... one was abused... one was left in a friends garage to starve and one came from the vet.... that was left on their front doorstep.
My wife wanted no new pets after our last one died.... Now we have these 4 psycho kitties.
As I said... she'll want one again in time... they are hard to resist.

OW: Thanks for the kind words
I mean, it was kind of worse for my g/f, because she had been lonely most of this first year. She's in Atlanta, and I'm still finishing up in Jersey. Since last August, she's only seen my like a grand total of 3 weeks. So, Klaus was kitty that really loved her. He'd always want to be with her and would give her kisses and hugs, and just generally made her feel a LOT less lonely. So it was even harder for her that it would have been if, say, it happened this fall (when I'll be down there).
And of course, she had her last final today (in Criminal Law) of the year, so she was already under a lot of stress. I just hope that she was able to do somewhat ok on that exam.

So, supposedly her test went well, and she hung out with one of her girlfriends all night. She's all needy and basically saying she needs me there. Understandable and all, but that woman stuff just makes guys feel guilty and doesn't help at all.

well I'm not a big cat person, and cats aren't really as affectionate as dogs imho. But it is still a very valued pet, and I'm sure the loss is extreme. I know humans I'd rather see dead rather than my dog (yes I kind of stole that saying from an antartic explorer - slightly different wording though). Cats can be very close pets as well, much more than fish and birds, etc.
My condolences.

I'm so sorry to hear about Klaus.
Knowing he's in Kitty Heaven and not sick any longer should be a bit of comfort...I know it won't be much...but he's a happy little kitten again now and will be waiting for her.
Send her this link....it is a great little poem about pets that die before their owners.

I'm sorry about your girlfriend's kitten.
I'm a very anti-cat person (just ask the cats I water ballooned last summer) but I'm still sorry to hear about it.

Being anti-cat is a sign of abnormally low human intelligence. Psychologists all agree on this point.

Dude, when my cat died, I wasn't going to get another cat. Then the SOs fried dropped by with this adorable little kitten who could fit in my hand when he curled up. It's been six years and he's slept with me every night since then, (excluding the nights when I wasn't home).
You never think it's the right time for a new animal after one you loved has died, but the little weasels have a way of worming themselves into your heart. I recently rescued a kitten from a tree, and kept him because he was too close to a busy street to simply let wander off. We only had him for two weeks before we found a new home for him, but we feel in love with him in the mean time. (He's doing well in his new home we hear.)

that is quite sad.. I have a feline that I am very attached to. If he died I would be heart broken..
I hope she's okay!
The sad part about is and Geroge Carlin put it the best..that when you purchase a pet you are purchasing a small tragedy...
you should surprise her with another if you ever get that chance!

:-(
*goes to give his own kitty a hug*
Dogs suck. Dogs are needy, attention seeking pack animals. Frankly, there's only room for one needy attention seeker in my life and that's me.

So, apparently she was offered a 3 year old cat yesterday. But it is just too soon for her. And when (if) she gets a new cat, she wants it to be a kitty, so she can have a bond with it.
