I'll volunteer to host this one - if you would send save files and history (text) files to me at git1@scousers.net - I will knock them together and find them a web home - sorry no graphic files - that address is on the wrong end of a slooow line, but if you have a picture that you like give me the details and I will capture it myself and put it up - from the right end of a T3
------------------
Of course - if anyone dissents I'm not trying to force the issue.

I don't understand what you mean by "Hosting this one"? Are you just going to collect the files and make a history or what

Sorry Cornmaster - I was unclear - yes i was volunteering to find a website to hold all the save games and a composite history of the Apolyton Civilization - from the dawn of time until it perished at the hands of the barbarian hordes in 120AD under the incompetent leadership of yours truly.
Making the bold assumption from the above posts that the majority of players would like this to be enshrined in some fashion and having some web-space that could be utilised for this ...

When you folks to get to my turn, don't zip it. Just send the save file as it appears in your file.
And send the password if somebody set one.

Ah well, its MGE as I feared. I'm afraid I'll have to be dealt out of this one unless anyone knows how to convert it to plain old CivII?
If anyone else is in a similar predicament would they be interested in doing a CivII of the original version alongside this one?
Maybe another thread is in order.

I would (FW, right), but i have a slight problem with my computer.
I'm a fan of many DOS games, and it got stuck on DOS mode. Amybody knows which file tells win that it must restart on ms-dos mode.
I could use it on Safe mode, if i can't fix it before we start.

I've got 2.42, FW and MP so bring it on.
HsFB - v2.42 is NOT compatible with a FW game you can play 2.42 in FW, but the FW save won't work in 2.42. However, if you did the recommended upgrade to FW you will find that in your Civ2 directory there is an executable called something like civ2orig.exe which is good old v2.42 (or whatever version of Civ2 you had before the upgrade - that's the one to use

HsFB - if you have the Control Panel applet "TweakUI" its lurking in the 'PowerToys' directory of Win95 and I think Win98 (not SE) install discs or can be found on the MS site - it offers (under the 'boot' tab) an option to expose the start menu that normally only occurs when the beast thinks it needs to fire up in Safe Mode. - I always have this on for a few seconds so I can choose to boot into DOS if that is appropriate.

pressing F8 after the beep heard when you turn the computer on will bring up that menu.
I need to know which file tells Windows to start in MS-DOS mode.
And my mouse behaves extremely odd.
Oh, yes. Civ2orig. I remember it.

In lieu of posting the game on a site somewhere, how about an update here?
How goes the war? And not necessarily in the usual "log" format. How about some beautifully embellished prose?

Received it and finished my turns.
Corn, I don't know how to do a text file or how to post it here. So, in addition to sending the file to Christine, I'm sending it back to for you to do or post.
Results of my turn:
1) Mingapulco was founded.
2) None attached settler and archer from hut.
3) Currency, Warrior Code, and Alphabet from huts.
4) Discovered/Researched Cerimonial Burial.
5) Researching Code of Laws
6) 3 settlers currently being built.
Good luck Christine.

This is fine. Just wanted an overview of what you did during your turn. Send the saved game to Scouse Gits because he is making a history of the game. New updated list is:
4000BC-3050BC (20 turns) CornMaster (Player 1) *
3000BC-2050BC (20 turns) Maud'Dib (Player 2) *
2000BC-1050BC (20 turns) Scouse Gits (Player 3)
1000BC-525BC (20 turns) DaveV (Player 4)
500BC-25BC (20 turns) Smash (Player 5)
AD1-AD280 (15 turns) kcbob (Player 6)
AD300-AD580 (15 turns) Paul (Player 7)
AD600-AD880 (15 turns) Andemagne (Player 8)
AD900-AD1180 (15 turns) Sibir (Player 9)
AD1200-AD1480 (15 turns) Christantine The Great (Player 10)
AD1500-AD1600 (10 turns) Player 1
AD1600-AD1700 (10 turns) Player 2
AD1700-AD1758 (10 turns) Player 3
AD1760-AD1778 (10 turns) Player 4
AD1780-AD1798 (10 turns) Player 5
AD1800-AD1818 (10 turns) Player 6
AD1820-AD1838 (10 turns) Player 7
AD1840-AD1854 (10 turns) Player 8
AD1855-AD1864 (10 turns) Player 9
etc.....
The next players that do this should have an assigned time to meet each night to exchange .sav's and talk about the game!!! This would make it much more organized.
Anywho....

Corn, I got e-mail alert when I sent the file to Christine. I'll forward you the e-mail alert that was sent to me; therefore, I'm sending the file to Scouse Gits, hopefully there won't be a problem with his e-mail address.

I need an e-mail address for Scouse Gits--there is none listed in his profile.
Corn, you have the same file that was being sent to Christine.
You figure out who should get it next.

I'll rename it apolyton1.sav,...apolyton2.sav....etc as I recieve them and then SG will have an easier time keeping track of them Aren't I so nice
Anywho I updated the player list to add Andemagne and Sibir. Kapeash!!!
Anywho...good luck all!!
